just tried loading up, but can’t, get the error message ‘kcd has stopped working’.

Try to delete all saves and start a new game.
The save system in the beta is a mess…
Or wait 2 weeks and play the relaese version…

Come one…do not frustrate yourself with the beta. Get for the real thing!!! Only a few days to wait. 
yes I also fell victim to this not being on the forums for quite some time. The Beta has not been worked on for some time and the current version is so they tell me quite a different beast. Enjoy the Beta and wait for the full release and all should be fine . Mine also does the same crashes on a save or just out of the blue . Grin and repeat " You will not break me Blasted crash to desktop i will prevail"
Beta access is not supported by Warhorse anymore. If you still can play it, fine. If you have problems and can´t start the Beta anymore, please wait for the release version.
