I remember playing Oblivion when it first came out. I spent a absorbent amount of time in the first main city. The whole time I’m just thinking this is what video games can be, a way of “existing” in a foreign world. Witcher 3 is fun, but it’s very fantasy heavy, and combat feels super fancy and clearly Geralt doing Witcher things. But here? Here you are the player. Using what’s around you in the real world. Making tactical choices. No spells. Just you and the other person. This is what games lost some where along the line for me. That feeling of actually being there. On top of that, my favorite thing about the Mass Effect series, was, having a wonderful codex filled with interesting things to read. here, I actually want to read each new entry knowing not only does it make the world more cohesively whole but, I realize it’s based on historically factual information. Cheese on my broccoli, by any other name. Excited not only for what DLC if any is coming, and for what ever future games like this Warhorse comes up with,
Sincerely,
A grateful fan.
