I hate it when in most games you really have 2 states - fighting & dead. When its just a matter of 1 scratch between kicking ass on the field and lying motionless on the ground.
Hmmph indeed. Dayz has a planned item degeneration, stuff breaks down visually. Not easy to do - as everything would need many, many sets of textures, but would be quite neat.
Something like that would be cool but of course it would be much more work to implement a sytem like that with the 4-layer-clothing/armor system…

If a one-man indie studio could do something like that Warhorse should be able as well. They could even ask the Overgrowth dev about his tech.
I feel that blood and gore in a medieval game where people are swinging swords and the like at eachother you would have to be naive to think it would be minimal. This is described as a realistic game, I’m not saying it should be every time you swing your sword a limb falls off, but take for example what ryse did. You wore down your opponent and finished them with a stylish “finishing move”. Imo the fancy execution should not be limited to the final blow as a much more skilled combatant could exectute someone with one move. I do want there to be visual effects of damage and the nervous underlying possibility of your opponent chopping your head off before you even get a chance to thrust your sword forward. I’m for realistic gore and severed limbs. But not hollywood dramatics.

Are you saying that not a single head had been chopped off in the heat of battle back then? I mean I was not there obviously so I don’t know for sure but I would hazard a guess that at some point, or even several someone landed up decapitated.
I would think dismemberment would be a bit over the top in the heat of combat, especially in armor. Short of just wildly hacking at someones limb over and over. I’d think breaking bones or just crippling in general to be more common. It’d be neat to have a dynamic process of damaging extremities with repeated hits regardless. Just to vary up the fights beyond blocking and riposting until they fall over.
I would prefer there to be the option to cut off limbs. I wan’t this to be realistic though. As in, it depends on what type of weapon you’re using and how many times you hit the player in the same spot with a slash or overhead attack. It would also be fun to cut off limbs after the fight is over, to kinda destroy the corpse of your enemy. The problem with that is, that probably didn’t happen much in that era, unless by barbarians. Especially with the religion the way it was.
I would like to be able to cut off limbs and decapitations, but they would be rare events… If your hands or wrists are exposed, getting them severed is very easy to do in real life…
Blood, gore and decapitation, yes please. But! Please make it realistic. This isn’t God of War.
Chopping a head off is difficult. Even a two-handed heavy axe may need two chops to decapitate a head.
Limbs, yes that would be cool.
When I was watching the gameplay videos, especially those showing combat, I noticed that there is only a small amount of blood spilled when a hit is received. In my opinion, the problem here is that with so little blood it’s rather hard to figure out how much longer your foe can endure before he dies. You know, the more often you hit your enemy, the more blood is spilled and the more hurt he looks.
i dont know where to find the quote but there is one that the Devs put up that it was going to be realistic and that what is known as “gore porn”. im sure @Cerberus can find it. but like i always say im sure there will there will be a mod for it
I want realistic bleed through not SUPER GORE. This game is supposed to be authentic right?
Devs have already said it could be too big a challenge to put in any severing of limbs to the point of it working reasonably.

maby so but I am pretty sure if you dont have a helmet or any other gear on your head ( and you’re weekend) it would be alot easier too cut through and decapitate you, humans arent super hero’s decapitations in medieval times did happen, for example a one handed sword would have alot more trouble then a one handed sword. There were defiantly alot of decapitations in the battle field, it would just make sense a human isint made of steel!. ( but im not talking like a ridiculous amount of people)
I would love the game to be realistic. So the occasional (not frequent) decapitation, dismemberment and de-limbing would be welcomed. Of course, that should depend on the weapon and armor type, plus angle and strength of the strike. Minimally flesh wounds or even broken limbs should be added in. Just don’t display exaggerated sprays of blood, and I will have no problem with the gore.

If its done within reason. its quite hard to dismember someone in armour. and blood doesn’t explode out of people like you see in films etc.
