Bows and stealth

yes it does controlling the fox population who do stuff like this

Hmm i don’t know about that. Correct me if i’m wrong but seeing how most large animals were wiped out in the U.K the fox probably doesn’t have any competitors wouldn’t surprise me if they were was a culling for them every few years.

Now, I can’t be certain on this, but I recall reading somewhere about a type of silencer for bow strings.

I think it was a tuft of fox hair or something like it attached to the string, it absorbs some of the vibration from the string after release and thus helps to reduce the noise. Can’t verify it though.

Bohemia guys. So
 crossbows, crossbows everywhere

But they already said the longbow will be a play able weapon

But you’re right crossbows will also be a weapon. I dont know how loud a crossbow is but like the longbow it wouldn’t be an instant kill so the man would have time to scream.

Bows in Bohemia were probably not that powerfull compare to the rest of the Europe as its popularity decreased greatly after 14th century.

I dont know if that makes them more silent but definetly less likely to kill a man by one hit.

The devs have stated that bows will be powerful weapons in game.

Yes, I’m not saying it will be weak
just that it shouldn’t be a 100lb warbow (I hope).

Even if it was, Henry is a blacksmith so I guess he would be strong enough

Modern day there certainly are string dampeners and silencers to reduce vibration and release related noises, good for hunting
I haven’t been able to verify if this particular type of technology was invented as early the 15th century though :expressionless:

As you mention, there may have been methods or techniques that certain skilled archers used to dampen vibration and make their shots quieter
 But I can’t validate it

Hi,

I use a 80lb Longbow, completely authentic (English Longbow of Yew), with authentic arrows and fletchings, and furthermore an authentic style. I find once the arrow has been released, the noise is certainly not loud at all; it also doesn’t carry that far during the night. If someone did hear it, by then the arrow would have struck the target (if the shot is on its mark). Regardless when people are on sentry they wouldn’t be deadly silent, you’d often have a fire to keep warm giving a nice crackle, and a partner to chat with.

Also to everyone else, yes I do hunt with a variety of bows. I hunt to eat what I catch and for animal control. I do think it’s fun hunting on foot or on mount with hounds. However I do not believe it’s sadistic, as then everyone would say the same about people who buy meat from their local butchers or market. However, I do respect all of your views as I believe in free speech.

Furthermore, I don’t use a string dampener or anything like that as my arrow does often strike before the animal can react (If I don’t get spotted).

Warrior Rose.

Im sorry I didnt get it. What do you mean? That strong blacksmith can use 80lb bow like 120lb?

Well said mate

Talking archery; what’s the draw length on that long bow of yours just out of curiosity? And at that poundage, what type of FPS are you able to achieve?

I mean that Henry would probably have the strength to use 100lb warbow, since he is a blacksmith.

I’m pretty sure that’s just a strange incident, foxes usually shit themselves when they see a human, and they only prey on small rodents and what they can scavenge, but still that’s a shame though.

In response to the original topic I’d say daggers are a preferable way. That said I’ve been reading Special Operations in the Age of Chivalry, 1100-1550 and I have not come across special suits or weapons used for stealth.

Hi,

I have a 80lb Composite bow, 30lb Longbow (6ft), and a 80lb Longbow (6ft3inches). No idea about FPS as I’m not a physicist; I only know that they hit their mark and the animal falls. I hunt with Composite Bow and 80lb Longbow and once the arrow has been loosed (and hits its mark) the animals aren’t quick enough to react. I obviously use war arrows for 80lbs and 8mm for 30lb (re-enactment grade). I also do target shooting which is also very fun at long distances (Exactly what longbows were made for).

Warrior Rose.

Strange as it is . Happened more than once just put it into Google a load of articles come up . But more than that they are a pain in the arse .

Used to have have my bin bags ripped open every night by the little shits so it’s important there isn’t too many running about

Have you ever seen a fox jump on a trampoline? It’s possibly the greatest thing ever :stuck_out_tongue:

Thats not the the same type of strenght. You have to train for long time to get used to or you will hurt yourself
but since it is a game I asume this is too much to implement.

Still, people did not train with that strong bows here so nobody even produced them.

Strong warbow in Bohemia would be extremly rare if there would be any at all.
