I was in the monastery trying to buy some lockpicks from Brother Cellarius. I had the 200 groschen, and attempted to buy thirteen lockpicks but I didn’t have enough groschen. So I decided to try to get the most bang for my buck. Since I didn’t have enough money, I tried to haggle Brother Cellarius. When I tried to haggle him, no dialogue ever appeared. When I tried again right away, I noticed he only had seven out of twenty lockpicks left. I checked my inventory but I never received the lockpicks, and my money was still there. The sale goes well as long as I don’t try to haggle.
In short, haggling Brother Cellarius makes the lockpicks in the basket disappear from his inventory.
