[BUG] Arrows recognised as stolen - Realism?

My apologies for forgetting some of this … Early game there is a Lady you meet and one of her quests is to go get some wine, a crown and something else for her sisters? wedding.

Anyway prior to this, I had stolen a bunch of 5 waffenburgs or whatever they are called … And a bunch of better arrows

During the Ladys’ quest, the wine is not available, so you are hinted at entering an Archery contest.

At the Archery range, is one guy looking after the place.

If you take a few practice shots at the targets, the guy stood nearby immediately recognises the arrows you fire to be stolen, and shouts bringing 3 guards to kick your butt.

How, I mean really how would they be recognised for real as being stolen ???
I was not caught stealing them, I am a respected person where they were stolen from
Is there some kind of medievil bar code which this guy can read and exactly identify these particular arrows as being stolen?, were they on a bulletin scroll of stolen goods from other towns recently?, might I not have been given them from someone, or bought them, if the type of arrow is only available from one place in the game world? - What exactly made these identifiable as stolen that would make sense in this medievil world ???

I find this to be a bit of a realism breaker, as much as if you had included dragons or goblins in the game, and so consider it as a bug with the suspension of disbelief of the game.

Perhaps they are engraving their name on each of them

but the one person who is in the area to recognise them is about 12 yards behind me, and I am firing the arrows away from him, he must have eyes like superman … its just ridiculous. I bought this game because of its claims to being more realistic than other games for combat, mostly it is but this little detail just smacks of an arcade game mechanism to me that is patently obvious, any excuse to show off the go to jail part of the game if you dont behave

Word gets around among archery circles that someone had their hunting arrows stolen. Then, you show up with stolen hunting arrows. It’s not especially immersion breaking to imagine hand made arrows being identifiable, is it? We’re not talking about mass produced made in China here.

I have “gallopped” on horse back to this location, just after stealing them, covering a lot of country. Word would have had to be via carrier pigeon …

… You know, I am not even going to entertain imagining how what you say may have been believable. The whole thing is just ridiculous.

I love the game too, but I really cant find an excuse to make on behalf of whoever decided to include this mechanism as being viable.

No matter how you look at it, imagine you are there, that guy is saying without a doubt I stole these particular arrows, did he see me steal them? … Nobody did. For all he knows I could have been given them by the same maker, even if he did have superman eyes to see the detail clear enough as the arrow flies away from him.

It does seem to spread a little fast, I agree with you there, but that wasn’t what you said originally. Also, did the tournament start as soon as you got there? Were they waiting around just for you? Time would have to have passed. Enough time for word to get out.

There was the one guy, under the awning, I walked past him towards the targets, about twelve yards closer to them than he was. I have not practiced archery at all so decided to have a bit of practice … First arrow loosed “Thief! Guards! Guards! stolen arrows” … Suspension of disbelief ruined and I got my butt kicked
