On two separate occasions I have picked up spears from fallen eneimes. For some reason I can’t equip them, I can’t move them to my horse or I can’t move them to my chest. Only posible action isn’t to drop the spear.

Halberds.
Not sure if this is accurate or not but they were introduced late in development and I don’t think they were thought through that well. On the other hand I doubt a Halberd or two would easily fit on your back pocket or a hourse’s pouch.

They shouldn’t be in the inventory to be picked up - which is the mostly likely way to get them into your inventory (sleeping while holding one may also do the same).
If they are on the ground (dropped by enemy or by you) then you will hold them ready for use when picked up again.

So basically spears are something you can only keep on your hands. Seeing the spear on your inventory must be a bug then
It’s a bug. You have to drop the spear to pick it up.

I’ve gone in and stolen both a long scythe and a halberd (both “poleare” weapons) and both were bugged. The scythe showed up in inventory as already equipped but i couldn’t look at stats or use it. A guard told me to put my weapon away even with the animation didn’t show me holding any weapon out. i had to go in and just drop it and the item never showed up on the floor. The halberd was worse, I’d pick it up and the same thing as the scythe it would auto equip even though I have a sword in my main weapon slot but only give me the option to drop it. However, as I was moving around trying to loot more stuff it just fell out of my inventory by itself falling onto the ground so I’d pick it up again. After the third time, I just left the cursed item to the witches and demons and took my non-possessed loot and got out of there. I haven’t heard of anyone else having much sucess with the polearm weapons.
