I posted this as an response to a different topic, but I don’t think, that it will get much attetion there, so I decided to make a topic for myself.
I have the problem that in the quest “Baptism by fire” I always get the message “too many men died”, no matter what I do.
I might have figured out the reason behind this. First of all, I chose the biggest amount of troops I could, not minimum not “a few” I went full America Style on these guys. Then just like the guy in the video bel0w my troops start attacking the bandits and sometimes I get the message “too many men died” right there, or I get to the second part and I get the Message there.
Things I figured out so far:
-The enemies don’t attack me no matter what I do. I can stab the sh*t out of them and they don’t engage in combat(with me).
-If I save after the first part (the bridge) and reload it, all NPCs are frozen, some in their default ragdoll Position (arms and legs spread) some just stand there.
-I noticed that the games handles the bandits like allies, that might be the problem. None of my soldiers died but I still get the error as soon as I kill a Certain amount of enemies. Thats pretty easy to achieve because like I said, one of my saves is buggged out so the guys just freeze. If I then proceed to kill another bandit I get the message as well so x bandits that died before the save + one extra guy and I get the message.
My conclusion: The game counts the deaths of the bandits to the number of fallen allies and thats why some people get this message all the time. If interested, I can upload my save files for further investigation.
Below you see a video from a different guy with the exact same problem:
