Bug in Quest Baptism by fire GAME BREAKING

I posted this as an response to a different topic, but I don’t think, that it will get much attetion there, so I decided to make a topic for myself.
I have the problem that in the quest “Baptism by fire” I always get the message “too many men died”, no matter what I do.

I might have figured out the reason behind this. First of all, I chose the biggest amount of troops I could, not minimum not “a few” I went full America Style on these guys. Then just like the guy in the video bel0w my troops start attacking the bandits and sometimes I get the message “too many men died” right there, or I get to the second part and I get the Message there.
Things I figured out so far:
-The enemies don’t attack me no matter what I do. I can stab the sh*t out of them and they don’t engage in combat(with me).
-If I save after the first part (the bridge) and reload it, all NPCs are frozen, some in their default ragdoll Position (arms and legs spread) some just stand there.
-I noticed that the games handles the bandits like allies, that might be the problem. None of my soldiers died but I still get the error as soon as I kill a Certain amount of enemies. Thats pretty easy to achieve because like I said, one of my saves is buggged out so the guys just freeze. If I then proceed to kill another bandit I get the message as well so x bandits that died before the save + one extra guy and I get the message.

My conclusion: The game counts the deaths of the bandits to the number of fallen allies and thats why some people get this message all the time. If interested, I can upload my save files for further investigation.

Below you see a video from a different guy with the exact same problem:

And what happens if you don’t kill anyone?

Then my soldiers kill the bandits and once the magical number of “fallen allies” (100% bandits not a single one of my soldiers died) is reached I get the message. This is game breaking for me simply because obviously all bandits have to die at some point and the number of bandits > number of fallen “allies” that are allowed. You simply cannot complete the quest.

I’m having the same problem, hopefully they’ll fix this in a way that doesn’t require to start a new game since since I’m already 16 hours in (I’ve done a lot of grinding to level up) and it would really suck to lose the progress…
For now I’ve reloaded to the point just before they asked me to investigate the camp and I’m doing side quests, still they should fix it asap because this bug it’s definitely game-breaking

Hi,

Now I understand. Thanks, exactly the same happens to me. I found it strange that they did not attack me! Have you emailed the support team?

All I have found the fix. You need to load back to the chapter we’re you get drunk with the preist. Don’t draw your weapon in that fight just box. And then when I got to the fight it was fixed! I could move on.

I’m getting the same exact problem as described, and shown in the video. Cant get past 2nd wave even though no allies die, and no one targets me.

It happened to me, but after 30 minutes of killing Cumans, I decided to rush the archers and ignore the foot soldiers, it worked out and I got past it in 10 minutes

I just wanted to post the solution how I got around this bug, I reloaded to the point before I entered the camp of the bandits (to sabotage it) and decided to skip the sabotage part. Once I did that the quest continued flawlessly and didn’t bug out on me once again. Note to the Developers: Would it be possible that the bandits didn’t target me, because I still had some of the kuman armor on?

I have been having the same issue for several hours now. I have been trial and error testing it. and ended up using cheats to screw with the game to try and figure it out. I used an Insta-Kill cheat to kill the bandits in 1 hit and figured out that after 6-7 of them die it gives a game over. even if none of my guys died. I have come to the conclusion that due to a bug caused by selecting certain dialogue options during the quest where you find Timmy at the Windmill and getting ambushed by people loyal to Runt. I selected the options “He’s hiding in Rattay” and it worked, He says find him and tell them where he is exactly afterwards, but after the conversation ended I decided to kill them all. And so when I get to the “Baptism by Fire” Quest Everyone on both sides is non-hostile to me because due to the dialogue option used the bandit camp thinks I am an ally for some reason… And thus no matter what once 6 or so people on either side dies it triggers a game over due to too many allies dying… At least this is how i figure it is…

Okay So I reloaded the Beginning of the Timmy quest to try and get the bandits to attack me properly and they NEVER did. No matter what dialogue options I choose as soon as the conversation is over they just run off and wont even fight back if I attack them… So The issue causing this series of bugs to happen has to be before that…

This could be also true, I chose to tell them where Timmy hides, so I can kill them one by one while they run to his hideout. So this could also cause the bandit npc to see me as an ally. Didn’t the 1.3 Patch fix it?

Hello,

I talked about this in another topic. It was caused by the faction change in quest in Uzhitz with bohuta or Sheep in wolf´s clothing. This bug is fixed in version 1.3+.

Have a good day
