Pointy hat, one of the cloth coifs, and the hood from the fisherman in Samopesh are also visible. The pointy hat is the worst.
right…i wanted to wear the pointy hat but having it visible like that…
It also weighs 16.4 which is 8 times (roughly) a metallic helm, and probably a bit much
don’t know how much a mail coif weighs, i would assume they weighed actual mail coifs to get that weight.
as for why chain mail might weigh more than a helm remember the chains overlap and the solid steel doesn’t, a chain coif also covers more area than a metal helm (often going all the way down to the chest) making it more like a helm, a gorget, and a quarter of a breast plate.
haven’t had the opportunity to nick a chain coif to see if the ones in the game cover all that or not.
tuseroni, I imagine those weights are meant to be kg- can you imagine wearing something weighing over 16kg on your head? If they had weighed that much, they would never have worn them, much less a mail shirt which would have to weigh about ten times as much.
Even if they are not real units of weight, there is no way a mail coif would weigh significantly more than a kettle hat, probably less. Come to think of it, why does an arrow weigh more than a sword or even the bow it is shot from? I expect the devs didn’t care much about the accuracy of the weight values they were entering for the beta, any old number would do, they will surely be rectified later. Does weight currently affect anything in game?
Yes, Stamina regeneration/loss with movement. Movement speed and even the ability to jog/run. Movement speed of horse, and it’s ability to canter/gallop. (though these last two aren’t rigorously applied and it is possible to carry a stupid amount of stuff and still gallop and sprint if you are prepared to work the system).
Hosen are the most common item that I have serious issues with. I disagree with the arrow weight being higher than a sword. Each one is a fraction of a kg (100g which is a bit high IMO) but 15 arrows is 1 sword. Shields seem suspiciously heavy. Gambeson seem a touch over weight, considering the mailled one is only 5kg heavier than the light one and 3kg heavier than the medium one.
Apples seem heavy (and onions improbably weightless), among other errrors with weights. The shovel seems rather bloated too.
Having the same problem also, and with clothing visible through others such as hoods etc.
Doh, I missed that there were 32 arrows there, I just read the ‘arrow’ and looked at the weight; didn’t realise there was a quantity figure.
