So far I have just finished the main quests - All that Glisters.
I am going to point out some major bugs and minor ones which i have experiences so far.
In fact the quest ‘All that Glister’ itself is quite buggy. So when i get to Sasau to investigate the overseers office I initially was not able to proceed further because I got into fight with overseer’s assistant before I start the quest. There was no Talk option with NPC and he was always on run when ever i approach. However I was able to proceed it later as I managed to talk to Zach the blacksmith.
This quest also shows that the developers really have to retest all of the quest algorithm. So after Side quest Rattles, I was able to talk to Master Jerome and his apprentice. Here I have option to either go to the apprentice directly or ask around in Bathhouse. I chose to go to Bathhouse after questioning the apprentice, so I know all about the kidnapping situation. However when I talk to bathhouse madam, the dialogue options do not change according to my previous choice. Henry still ask questions like where is the apprentice and what happened to his girl friend etc… This is not the only example of messed up dialogue and there are many more quests which have seem issue.
Then I have choices of either rescuing the bathmaid who got kidnapped or i can just talk my way through using speech skill. So at first i chose to use my speech skill to find Rapota and proceed to silver mine with Ulrich.
After the completion of the quest, I went back to Sasau to talk to the Jerome’s Apprentice to check on his girlfriend as I did not choose to rescue her. Apparently I was still able to start the rescue mission. So I did. I rescue the girl and brought her back to Sasau. However when go back to the Apprentice to complete the quest, the apprentice thank me for saving the girl. But the quest did not appear as completed, so I talk to him again then the dialogue options are still at the stage before the rescue, so the quest is unable to be completed.
So I reload my save file before I find rapota, and I decided to do the rescue mission first to get the information about the Rapota. In this case the quest can be completed normally. There is also a minor bug where Ulrich get stuck in front of the bush and unable to join Henry during the battle.
Anyway the main issue here is the Static quest dialogues, and quest algorithm order, also issue with premature interaction with quest related NPC (i.e Overseer’s apprentice ). There are other quests which suffers similar issues.
One notable on is the Thick as Thief quest which Henry has to steal horse from Majored. I got this quest after the pestilence quest and well there was no horse left for me still so I was unable to proceed any further with the quest. Also despite of me saving mathias he is still lying flat in the barn.
Also there is Ginger problem, at Neuhof. After getting permission from Zora to bring ginger back which was optional quest, I forgot to go back to ginger to tell this so I went to see him after completing the main part of the quest. So Ginger said he will come back to Neuhof and Henry will get his reward, but he does not return to Neuhof afterward and I was unable to to trigger further dialogue with him.
There are also issues with rejecting quests. I have experienced 2 so far. So I got into duel with Wayfaring knight, 3 times and got the chest armour. So when he challenged me 4th time I just rejected the duel. More precisely when he tried to bargain the money I turned the offer down. However after this event, whenever Henry talks to him on the road, I cannot proceed any further to duel him again. Henry just says, ‘We have met before, haven’t we?’ then the event automatically ends. I even killed the knight after that to reset the quest, but whenever he returns the quest is still stuck at the part where Henry says ‘We have met before, haven’t we?’ .
Similar problem occurs in Green eyed monster where I refuse to do the final bidding of the farmshed, I was unable to proceed further with the quest as Henry was not able to initiate talk with him. Also the Quest is still in the ongoing state.
Then there is other knight whom Henry can use Speech skill to solve the issue but he still comes back again and again and there is no progress in his story with his mistress.
In addition i do not know how i can repair horse equipment as there is no option for me to repair them.
The game itself is fun but the bugs just destroys the immersion. This is quite a critical problem to quest driven RPG, in which KCD is all about. I really hope dev team to do throughout testings and fix these issues.
