Camera Point of View

First, I just wanted to start by congratulating Warhorse on a fantastic game concept and I have full confidence in what I have seen that it will turn out to also be a great game.

I just wanted to raise the topic of Point of View, where a first person perspective is important for immersion, I find that most games seem to position the camera too high. This gives the feeling that the point of view is actually above the head instead of from the eyes.

Even though the protagonist may be a tall character, I would like to see if by lowering the camera if it would add to the feeling that you are actually walking the streets of a village or castle. Even having NPC of different heights so that at times you may need to slightly look up at them.

This may be a small point, but I would be interested to hear what you guys think.

I think the mocap they’re working on will help make this feel more proper, especially when using it against other people they’ll hopefully be doing it with at the same time. The camera may be around the forehead, but it should be consistent with others.

I agree with your sentiment on having the camera lowered so it is at head level rather than above the character’s head. That little fix is a big deal to me too. The game at the moment seems to have the camera above head level but I’m sure they will fix that…At least I hope they fix it

there are 2 causes of this. setting the cam too high (as you mentioned) and bad proportions.

hello, door, how have you been?

I had a rendezvous with the keyboard

We do our best to make the world as authentic as possible in this matter as well. And having the camera attached to a real in-game body makes this very easy. Proportions of objects are a bit more complicated to handle but if off it should be on purpose only (like the a bit bigger upper castle as Dan mentioned).

Nah, you just took the screenshots from unannounced “Adventures of tiny Batman”

Another good question would be are all NPC’s going to be the same hight because looks silly people are all diffrent sizes and shapes not all the same hight ect ect.
