Are dogs available in this game for hunting for or just following you around?
No they are not. There was originally a planned dog companion but it was cut due to time constraints. WH has mentioned that they would like to release the dog companion as well as other cut features as DLC in the future.
The team is currently very busy dealing with some of the short comings of release so no recent news on this topic has been released.
