Can't get back inside talmberg although getting out went well - pc 1.6

Hi there,

I have encountered what appears to be the infamous “Talmberg bug”, although it seems from what i read people have mostly troubles getting out of Talmberg because of a gate bug, rather than getting back in (as I do) provided they’ve managed to get out “the proper way” in the 1st place . I’m playing the 1.6 version of the game on PC.

During the Run! quest, I managed to get out of Talmberg by talking to Radim, stealing the Talmberg armor, getting back to Radim and riding my way out through the gates as normal. I didn’t have any issue with the gate not opening at this point.

However, looking to return to Talmberg’s Castle to complete Miller Woyzek’s and Lady Stephanie’s side-quests, I arrived only to see the gate was closed. Impossible to enter.

Reading the forum and searching online, I found out the bug is apparently not yet resolved so the only solutions appear to be either get in jail (annoying because of all my stolen items) or trying to jump on the bridge between the castle and the fortified village. The latter I couldn’t do since the game prevents me from approaching the bridge closely enough (there seems to be an invisible wall preventing me from reaching the bridge). I’ve tried jumping in all directions but it wouldn’t work.

So I went to jail and managed to get back inside. There, walking the patrolling path, I noticed one guard (I guess it is the one who is supposedly opening the gate from above when ordered by Radim) is partially glitched. He stays frozen and doesn’t move. When I try to wait a couple hours and check back on him, he appears somewhere else on his patrolling path, but he is still frozen. Maybe the issue comes from him, but if it it does, I don’t understand why I was able to leave Talmberg on horse without any issue in the 1st place.

Has any PC player had any similar issue ? Would greatly appreciate your input and help on this. This is no small bug as it seems Talmberg is essential to the main story (I’ve tried to avoid spoilers since I’m still at an early stage in the game). Thxs a lot for your help !

And attach the save file they can use to reproduce the issue. Like in front of the closed gate.

You are not supposed to stay in Talmberg, Henry wants to go to Skalitz.

@savvym I know, like I said, I managed to go to flee Talmberg and follow the storyline. The issue I have is later on, when I want to go back to Talmberg for some sidequests

Never had that problem on PC. did run, homecoming, Woyzeck’s 1st quest. wandered around doing stuff but never had trouble going back in to the castle.

That’s weird…I really don’t understand what’s wrong with my game. How did you escape from Talmberg first ?

thru my many re starts and patches I have jumped, walked, and rode out. This current run with 1.6 I stole alot of equipment berated the gate guard and rode out. All with several mods and in better shape with them(lost all saves on line 2 and wanted faster catch up).
Proceeded to get a perma bed in Talmberg and stashed the sword and any good gear I didn’t want damaged and did homecoming. This is how you get to keep the sword BTW

I stole gear, took bribe money, jumped out and got a room at the inn. If you linger in the settlement, the guards will give chase and take you back. Thought I’d test the game and instead of going NW I went S looking for Cuman in Talmberg woods. After a while, the game triggered the Rovna St James cutscene (even though I had gone in the wrong direction). Subquently i was able to go back inside the castle for an audience with Lady Stephanie. Seems like a nuanced bug

Xbox One never had a problem getting a uniform and getting out, jumping off the bridge or getting back in…havn’t tried post 1.6 or on Hardcore.

I kinda wanted to draw the story out instead of going to Skalitz as well, see what all was available to do before you actually start the game when you get KOd by Runt

See how much more gear I could loot and run to the Skalitz chest before I get KOd and go back and retrieve it all

OK, if I don’t find a fix, I’ll just keep on with the main story and see if it unlocks later on, thxs for sharing your experience
