Can't Get Past Baptism of Fire

I have tried everything. I poisoned the food and burned the arrows. My men get across the bridge and defeat the first group. We move on and when they reach the second group I get the “too many men have died screen” and only one guy goes down or none at all. The bandits and Cumans are not being targeted in the game at all. So when I fight them there is no reticle. I have tried everything and it’s frustrating and disappointing that I can’t pass a mission that has been “fixed” long ago. Anyone know how to get past this quest? Or know how to fix this issue.

I am on PC and game version is 1.70.0

It’s not bugged. I’ve played that part recently and also had to replay twice before I got further.

Load old save, say there is much more enemies in camp. You will take more allies. Also try to engage much more enemies who will focus you instead of mates. Also eliminate archers as soon as possible, they are deadly. There’s a tip. Burn the hay during the combat that is under the small lookout near wooden wall. Take halberd to battle because what comes after is even harder than combat itself.

The enemies do not focus on me regardless. I have dealt with the archers and still nothing. Also, I selected the options that have the most men. Also, I can’t find the hay.

Why not 1.72?
Do you use any MODs?
If yes, deinstall the MODs and try again…

The hay is in front of the wooden wall. Find Third part of the battle (clear the northern camp) in this article and the hay is on the other side of that wall shown. https://guides.gamepressure.com/kingdom_come_deliverance/guide.asp?ID=43599

Take out the archers. That’s the key.

Don’t take out the archers, bring a torch. There is a pile of hay in the square that you can light on fire, which’ll remove all the archers in the Cuman camp engaging in ranged combat and make them charge down. They’re normally the only enemies to target you. When you get up into the bandit camp use the highest damage arrows and bow possible to shoot out the archers. I’ve lost before because of them. When your men are attacking the enemies, FLANK THEM and hit them from behind. Then try and pick up jewellery and gloves, great weight to price distribution. Contrary to all the crap on using the pole to combat Runt, just use a long sword and riposte him before swinging or stabbing.

Polearm is really more useful than sword against Runt. I recently tried both options and even better than that was only bow.

So now we’re suggesting the broken weapon? If you can riposte then you can win easily. Or use headcracker…

Also got the same problem, steam version 1.7.2

All skills above level 18
No cheats installed.
maximum potions used.
Tried with varies weapons
All arches at the first wall are dead.
I haven’t lost a single soldier and it still comes up with too many men have died.
Tried over 40 times to complete, Still keeps coming up with too many men have died.
The suggestion uninstalling the add-ons / dlc’s - means starting over completely, as the saved games aren’t available when the mods / dlc’s aren’t installed.
Even tried:
cheat_kill_npc token:bandit radius:50
or
cheat_kill_npc token:cuman radius:50
Doesn’t work in console commands (not recognised).
Are there any other fixes please.

You are wrong. I tried sword, halberd and bow. With bow, you shoot him few times into head, if strong, just once. With halberd, also few times, but if you hit head, you have it. If you have sword, you have to use skill headcracker, otherwise focus on head, but he defends his head better than against other two options. You also have to hit him more times if you don’t use the skill.

Sorry that you’re bad with swords, not everyone is. Bowing is impractical but with a sword you can riposte then stab to the face, with a good piercing longsword you can kill him easily. Halberds are broken and bows you can just get destroyed.

Its not about that. But Runt does not cover against bow and does not react to halberd the same way as any other weapon.

Using a sword is easy, using a bow or halberd breaks the already broken mechanics
