There’s no option to talk to Karl after distracting Manfred. Help please!

Im using pc.
My version is 1.4.3
Im at the point where I need to get the monastery writ, which means I have to distract Manfred. After distracting him one way or the other, there is no “E” button when targeting him which means I cant open a dialogue with him.
You just need to have this quest to reproduce this issue, at least for me.

I suppose you can still steal the writ from him. Just choke him gently while he is sleeping. Try if it works 
I’m also stuck with this quest. There’s no option to talk to Karl. Playing platform is ps4 and I’m using the newest version.
My bad, I managed to solve the quest so there’s nothing wrong with it. Had to wait 'til daytime so I was able to talk with Karl.
