You have to start Hare Hunt first and when you meet Hare is when you have the opportunity to start the la Femme quest (if you believe him)
Yeah I did that. It’s still bugged.
If you can find a previous thread, there is a post in detail and it worked for me after exhausting all dialog options. Also try going back to the Inn and asking around a second time. It’s not marked but it options up a couple more dialog options with other NPC’s.
Ok I did it! It’s really simple actually. I don’t know if it matters which quest you start first but I just ignored Hare Hunt for the moment and followed Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing. Then I chose to help Hanekin and got Cherchez la femme which worked without any problems. I’m the master huntsman now!

Yeah thanks! Although I would have preferred to follow my initial path since in this one I had to kill some Talmberg guards…oh well I guess sacrifices have to be made.

and what’s the status of “hare hunt” in your quest log now ?
is it still there, did it complete, or did it fail ?
Hare hunt failed. I think it failed at the point where you decide to go meet the poachers instead of informing Robard.

Yeah I guess there is no way that both quests can be completed. Either help Hare or kill him.

Due this quest my OCD hurts me so much… WHY FAIL???
Just for future reference on this matter for those having the same issues, I had to approach this is several fashions and in 1 case that worked was a difference in how i aquired the horn in “sheep in wolfs clothing” once buying/burrowing the other in stealing. Hare hunt allows you to aquire the horn without stealing or knocking out nicholas, while sheep in quest forces the ladder. I’ve made it a goal to complete platinum trophy on vanilla no patches and its consumed a good part of the last month of my life. Joining these forums hoping to shed light on ways around some of these nasty bugs. Start hare hunt but DO NOT question or progress quest line go straight to andrew at the inn in the glade, use schnapps here, get sheep quest progress until you have to aquire the horn, use schnapps, progress until chenze le femme, auto save. Then use any of these saves to alter outcome until master huntsman.
