Cherchez La Femme quest bug (unbeatable)

Found this bug in the quest, when I need to get the signature from Nickolas, he can only train me, no dialogue option in any time of the day, he just wondering around his home.

Used a lot of back saved games, even to the point of before starting the quest line and replaying it totally, nothing helps, no dialogue option for signature, nothing.

Please, take a look and fix, thanks!

50+ Hours on PC (this is the 2nd major bug, along with paying everyone money even thou relationships with folks are back to good)

Having the exact same problem. I have gone back multiple saves and still cannot get Nicholas to talk about signing the paper. My only thought is I never stole the horn for the poacher in the previous quest. However when I spoke to Hanikan Hare he stated he had received it somehow. Also my “Hare Hunt” quest is still available and I’m not sure if it should be. Hopefully this can be patched soon. I absolutely love this game but bugs like this and infuriating.

Same problem here, I tried talking to the wife as opposed to knocking her out, tried waiting till noon or later, tried waiting till he would go to sleep after(he doesn’t), seems to be a bug about him leaving and even though I have the documents nothing shows up to get him to sign them.

Well the uspite is that beating the quest isn’t worth anything right now due to bugs.
You get appointed Master Huntsman, which doesn’t do anything: You still “steal” game and the hunter lodge is still locked and you have to steal everything. So right now everyody is screwed, lets just hope 1.3 fixes that quest…

Ran into the same bug yesterday - I only wanted to finish this quest for the hunting lodge (If that’s even for real :wink: )

I think I know why the bug occurs. It’s probably because you’ve acquired the quest from Andrew and not Nicholas himself. I had to reload my save, lost some time of gameplay but I completed the quest the second time.

Interesting. I guess i’m not there yet… We’ll see how it goes. Only bug I had was not being able to sit and talk to GodWin at the inn… sadly, i didnt get to see THE cutscene :frowning:

with the patch 1.3 installed i was finally able to finish the quest.

Had exactly the same issues as every mentioned here. Have tried doing this quest about 20 times from knocking out the wife and hauling her back to hare. Finally got past the issue of not being able to talk to the huntsman after hauling her and finally got him to sign the papers.
only issue now is when I take it back to hare he says wait till morning, then completely disappears from site when I awake as well as map marker for quest. Find him by huntsman horn sound and he just repeats the same dialogue asking if I’m ready to go. Tried finishing quest by morning and same thing occurs. On version 1.3.1 now.

shit man not on the new patch… i really hope this gets resolved, I have yet to try again on new patch.

Sorry if this is a bit too late, but I was able to complete it by doing the quests in a certain sequence. It seems to me that the the prerequisite quests need to be done before being able to finish this one.

  1. Fail the “Hare Hunt” quest by letting Hanekin Hare walk free.
  2. “Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing” can be picked up from Andrew at Inn At The Glade and should be completed
  3. Now you can properly approach Hanekin Hare at the abandoned mine shaft for “Cherchez La Femme”

Bugs related and resolved(for my case) by this method:

  1. Infinite loading screen after handing over the signed document to Hanekin Hare without completing "Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing.

  2. The infamous “World Frozen” bug where all NPC cease their routine activities and just stand frozen in place and the player loses several functionalities that include but may not be limited to: Saving, interacting with NPC, drawing weapons. This does not resolve all instances of this bug, but if you were to knock out and bring Nicholas’s wife to the abandoned shaft manually then the world would freeze if you tried to save afterwards. This solution only solves issues surrounding this set of quests!

@IceKing Did you complete the quests “Hare Hunt(it fails since you let Hare go)” and “Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing”? I think its a problem with the sequencing of the quests since the above quests plus Cherchez La Femme are all interconnected. Doing the first two should allow you to properly meet Hanekin Hare. I suspect that there are some problems with prerequisite quests in the game currently and if I were to take a wild guess it would be that we weren’t supposed to be able to get Cherchez La Femme until we’ve completed the two others I mentioned; however, I can somewhat see a desire for quest/story flexibility from the dev’s perspective… it’s an open world rpg after all.

Had a the same bug the first time i completed it. Second time I started Hare Hunt by talking to Nicholas, then just talked to Olena, Blacksmith Betty, and then Margaret. You have to tell Margaret to hang the garland so you can meet Hare. Hare seems to be at the meeting spot immediatly even though Margaret says to meet him at dawn. Talk to Hare and the quest Hare Hunt will fail if you side with Hare. I never started the quest Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing so I never failed it. Then do what Hare tells you to do. I waited till the horn sounded and Margaret was walking around so I talked to her and convinced her to go to Hare. Then I met Nicholas walking back to the his house and told if to sign the document.

I reloaded a much older save, Im at the point where I need to meet them in the clearing. I will not do this again until after PS4 patch drops and hopefully it fixes it. Im just doing random missions, Mostly Hunting…Should I go ahead an complete the Monastery mission? I also have a mission that I can do, It is stealth something for Matthew and Fritz or do it Andrews way? Which is best? Thanks
