TL;DR: Beautiful. Big.
I was able to take a look into a build which included lots of already finished assets. One of the assets is the church of Rataje. It’s a great building with lots of details in it. There are some decorations in the building that would make a good pattern and could be reused over and over again. However it’s not treated like a repetitive pattern, each part of it is unique, be it the floor tiles or the painted curtains. The paintings are very detailed and the altar is restored (I think it doesn’t exist like that today), it all looks really really pretty. I couldn’t find any images publicly available for it, that’s why I can’t say how it looks in comparison to the real one.
Now to the map size: It’s big enough IMHO to go exploring. Also I’ve been visiting the places where the latest screenshots originated and it’s not like the screenshots had lots of extra polishing-treatment. It’s the real deal in the game as well. Currently it looks like dense woods will be the border of the world which is quite okay. Besides the villages and castles we’ve seen so far, there will be small camps and settlements scattered around the world. I’ve even found the place with the bloody horse massacre. So it took me several minutes to fly through the world to find those places. Walking the same distance takes way more time and because of lowered rendering distance I might have missed some points of interest and some of these might not even be in the build I’ve seen. For the orientation at night you can pretty much use the lights in the distance and should be able to identify towns by their amount and structure of torches and camp fires. The light was emitted even at very long distances, specifically the camp fires.
As a short conclusion: I’m quite happy with the size and content so far. It just needs to be filled with life (people, animals, quests) to make this world a worthwhile experience.
