Clothes Make the Man

I searched for this but couldn’t find anything on it and none of the guides are helpful. I’m working on the “Clothes Make the Man” quest, where Lord Capon tells you to take some of his old clothes from his trunk. The quest marker is on the castle, which is 3 floors so it’s unclear which one his room is on. Also, on every floor the quest marker seems to be behind a locked door with a “very hard” lock, and even if I could pick those, there are guards everywhere. I found another room on the 3rd floor that could also be the right one but the trunk in it is locked, I don’t have an “Unlock” option, and when I tried picking the lock the guard heard me and I got fined 750 Groschen.

Can anyone at least point me in the right direction?

It’s on the top floor, first door on your right. It shouldn’t be locked.

Damn. It is. And I’ve tried waiting until all hours of the day.

for some unknown reason guards enter and exit rooms and lock door behind them which can result in needing to lockpick the door to finish the quest, happened infront of my eyes when i was about to talk to the engineer, but there are some things they need to fix before its smooth sailing.

Perhaps try saving your game and re-loading it. That’s fixed locked doors for me before.

Have you done the bathhouse quest to get the wine from under the rathaus yet? If you go to the side of the Rathaus there is a door, and at night the guard comes out a few times. if you wait there and have black clothing on, you should be able to sneak behind, and knock him unconscious, loot Han’s Capon’s keys from him, run down and get then get the wine and leave. The keys should help you open doors in the castle, but Im not 100% sure, I am going to test it out after work, just figured I would suggest that option!

cant you just get them from the chest in the boath house with capons items?

I’ve done that quest already and I took Hans Capon’s keys from the chest in the bath house, but they don’t seem to unlock any doors in the actual castle :frowning:

I did. I guess I’ll just have to wait til the patch comes out and hope that fixes it.

I think I have a bug here. I perfectly find trunk etc, but I can’t open it as it’s an inert component of the game. No suggestions to open/unlock/steal from it, nothing to do with this trunk. Can anyone help me? PS I already have patch 1.3.1

Got the same problem and i cant interact with hans capon either

Same here. I can interact with Hans, but the trunk is an inert object. No options are available.
Pity though, I wanted to see what I was getting chewed out for.

I heared that if you wear posh clothes he will take you to the meeting. (Not confirmed but worth trying) But since i cant even interact with hans this is impossible for me.

@Foghead Yes, that´s true. I never took his clothing and proceed the quest.

So I hade a simillar bug.

Hans was sleeping all the time and when I woke him up to talk he either went to Hanush in his underpants when not clicking the clothes option or he will dress up and the chest will become not openable.

You have to wake him up and tell him to go see Hanush, then take the option to take clothes out of the chest. then go to the chest and open it. And then wait till Hans takes out his clothes,you will see them disapear in the chest and then you can take out the clothes and the quest will go it’s proper way.

Odd thing is the next time I tried it things worked just fine?

Same here. Cannot interact with hans or the chest. Sometimes Hans still appears on the map as a star, as though he hasn’t given me the quest, even though the (A) quest marker is on the chest. Not sure if related – Hans hasn’t put clothes on in a few days. He’s just walking around in underwear.

Hi, I can confirm this is still a problem in 1.4.3, on PS4

When I go to ( when He has a quest star) he tell me he hasta see Hannish and I am to come too. he is still in his skivvies.
He doesn’t get dressed and stayed that way.
