Confusion about physical versions

I backed the game with the Baron (special edition, PC) tier and I am a little confused about the physical version of the game. I am not very familiar with physical PC games so that might be the reason for my confusion. I used to only play on console and now I am pretty much only getting games digitally on PC.

I read in another thread that you need your Steam code from this website to install the game from the discs.
There are two things that I do not understand about this:

  1. Doesn’t this make the Baron (special edition) virtually identical to the Knight (special edition) that was about 20% cheaper at the time of the Kickstarter? Yes, the Baron tier also has access to the beta, but it says that you would get a physical AND a digital copy of your game. This is as far as I am concerned not the case you are only getting a digital (Steam) version of the game with the choice of downloading or installing it by DVD so I don’t understand why it is even described in a different way on Kickstarter

  2. Wouldn’t the Baron (special edition) console version be objectively superior to the PC one? On consoles you can play games from a disc without also having a key so you would essentially have an extra copy of the game which is what I think what you can reasonably expect by looking at the Kickstarter tier description.

What do you think of this? Do you think I expected too much?

Here are screenshots of the Kickstarter descriptions:
