Consequences

If I were to do any acts of crime, such as stealing, killing or destroying property if possible in the game. What consequences do they have on the player? Besides being chased by guards or townspeople. For example, bounty hunters sent to kill me, paper flyers around town with my drawn face on it and such. How can we deal with this problem without having to load back to a save point? Can we pay off a ransom or bribe a guard perhaps? Like in Skyrim, where I have to serve time in jail and all my ‘stolen’ belongings taken and stored in a chest and my xp bar for some skills will decrease. Or I can bribe a guard to look the other way if they recognize me. That sort of thing, you know.

Thats very complex. First there are 4 types of Security zones.
1 - Public zone where you can move freely
2 - Semipublic Zone, for exampe a garden, where people will be suspicious about you and will follow you to see what you are doing. Lockpicking a door will be more difficult as even the attempt is a crime.
3 - private Area, you are not allowed to be there, people will tell you to leave, attack you, or call the guards.
4- Security Area. Well, if you are in a place where you should not be at all, guards will attack you without questions.

If you commit a crime, but nobody have seen it, the people will get suspicious about strangers. Thats you, you are a stranger, and it will be more difficult to convince them.
If you are cought by the guards, you will have several options. You can try to talk yourself out of the situation, run away, fight, pay a fine or go to jail.

Very complex indeed, also will said crimes have any affect on the story and or player status or reputation?

Yes, but it is even more complex with the layer of different factions and possible false accusations.

What downside is there when I go to jail?

Spoiler. You will burn alive.

Only in Silver Skalitz AFAIK

I’ve seen only one jail. That I understand.

What exactly happens in jail? How do we serve jail time? Hopefully not by sleeping and getting out the next day. Is it possible for a fellow npc that I have befriended along my travels to bail me out of jail?
