I didn’t try the game a lot (planning to do it a lot more later), but my first impressions were amazing:

The atmosphere (sound, ambiance, world coherence etc.) is really nice,
Graphics are awesome, seriously (I will post the performances I had playing in “very high” quality tomorrow),

The “game feel”/“game flow” is so cool! The movements are smooth, highly controllable and thereof create an immersive character’s move.
Moreover, I really liked (loved!) the fact that left joystick is used to rotate camera while running, I don’t have any examples where it is actually like that, but that’s so enjoyable !

EDIT: I forgot to mention the music… It is really awesome.

Felt like warhorse has heard quite a bit about bugs and issues with the alpha and thought they might like to hear some positives so thats why i created this thread.

I’m not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but I freaking LOVE how it’s dark inside buildings in the daytime. Realistically speaking, who in their right mind would burn a torch or candle during the daytime back then. Huge waste of money/resources.

I also like all the bugs. Kinda nice to see normal sized, non-radioactive bugs doing normal bug things for a change.

EDIT: I mean insects… not “bugs”. I guess “bugs” is a poor word choice when talking about an Alpha version (Technical Alpha at that) of any game. LOL

The highest praise imaginable: even my wife seemed to like it a bit. That’s huge. Never ever liked any game I have ever played. And now she really appreciated those dandelions and nettles (seemed quite real and she likes herbs) and the village itself. And she even didn’t see the sunset. :sunny:

I think the world view is amazing. I love how the plants sway with the breeze as if every strand of grass is animated.

The town is well designed with lots of room to explore. There are plenty of NPCs to speak to and they have daily/night cycles already built in.

Daytime and nighttime are implemented. I still haven’t found the Sheppard to get a torch so the nights for me are quite dark. I like that, on a moonless night it should be very dark. I love looking at the town from up the trail and seeing the pinpoints of fire light. It’s like I’ve been transported back to the 15th century and I’m experiencing how they saw things.

the full body awareness is pretty amazing. i was expecting a buggy mess in regards to that, but it’s actually pretty well done. when you look down, your head sort of tilts downwards and you see in front of you. in most games that have body awareness, looking down, you basically see your chest. no one looks down like that. they move their head forward a bit. that is very nicely simulated.

also, love how your feet actually move when you rotate your character. most games, even the most recent alien isolation(with body awareness) just has you hovering on a disk, your legs motionless as you spin 360 degrees like a top.

I really like the graphical style. My favorite thing is that little bridge over the stream where the water runs down along the rocks. It reminds me of where I grew up, near a creek.

The little chicken coops are cute too. I think it would be awesome if the farmers one day herded the chickens in at night to put them to bed.

Also the community for this game seems quite good. Everyone seems really positive with what they’ve seen in the alpha.

I like the animals lots of chickens, birds, and even some sheep. I also like all the barrels and piles of wood and stuff decorating the village.

One of the coolest attention to detail type things I noticed was how your eyes “adjust” from going in and out of buildings during the day. That level of detail surprised me and makes me even more excited to see this game come along
