CPU vs GPU vs RAM-bound game?

Please note, Hardware and System category didn’t appear available in the drop-menu for new post, sorry.

I ask because I have an older PC and don’t plan on upgrading until Windows 10/Skylake release. So, I’m still running a Core 2 line (Q6700) with a 1GB 6870 and DDR2 800.

Old I know! But like I said, I already upgraded this one as much as I care to, and am waiting for the next big jump, as even the Core i line is getting old at this point.

I can run Crysis 3 at playable frames on a step below max settings, so thinking this game’s larger environments and open world nature would make it more demanding on the RAM side.

In short, it will be very interesting to see how my old rig handles this alpha!

How many RAM do you have?
4 GB, 8, 12 or 16 GB?
But i think if you can play Crysis 3 very very smooth.
your PC is good, not in all but i think he will run it perfectly

I doubt you will be able to play the game decently with only 1GB RAM on your GPU. I guess that’s the biggest bottleneck here.

But Win10 will probably be released before KCD. Time to upgrade. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can run it pretty smoothly on low settings. Yes the GPU RAM is the lowest common denominator here. As this shows it’s using up all available, and oddly enough more-so in the lower resolution windowed mode -

Definitely time to upgrade before the full game release!
