Crashing due to having too many items in your personal storage container

Surely I can’t be the only one to have gotten a bit greedy and overloaded his stash with valuables. I am paying for it now. Every time I try to take even one item out of my stash, the game crashes. If I try to switch tabs (All, Weapons, Armor, etc.), the game immediately crashes. There’s a 50% chance a crash will occur if I’m just scrolling through the items in my stash. The funny thing is that the game has no qualms about me continuing to dump stuff in there even though there’s no way I can get anything back out. At this point, I’d be happy with taking out most of the stuff in my stash and tossing it on the ground, if only it would grant me access to what I leave in there. Has anyone that has had this issue found a way to lighten the load in their personal chest?

I am playing on Xbox One X.

Oh man I bloody well hope not, I’m a borderline phycopathathic OCD hoarding fanatic. So if it does im completely fucked.

So you loaded a previous save before it was overloaded and it doesn’t happen ? That how you know that’s what’s causing it?

Thats a real headscratcher, and I’ve never heard of that one before. What is the weight of all the items in your stash?

I had not considered reverting to an older save to be sure overloading is actually the problem. So I did and faced no issues, so in all likelihood, greed was the culprit here. I recommend you keep your OCD in check, goodman, lest the same fate befalls you. I don’t have confidence that this issue will be resolved with 1.3.

This is a shame, too. Were it not for these hindrances, I’d be praising this game up and down.

My guess is between 5000 and 8000. I can’t know for sure because I can’t take all my items out to check.

Do you not have shit loads of save then ? My OCD applies to pretty much everything, in every game I play I have at least 50 saves or as many as I can if there’s a cap , this had always got me out of trouble. I think it was ever sinse oblivion I started my save game obsession. The reason is I like to make the perfect choices so I can allways go back if something happens I don’t like or if I get a glitch.

Most of my saves are recent. If I wanted to go back to when my stash wasn’t a mess, I’d lose a lot of quest progress. I hate that idea. I’d probably just restart the game instead, but I’d also like to avoid that scenario if possible.

Had it been a while sinse you checked you’re stash then ? That why you only just noticed and lost a lot of progress.

Nah you shouldn’t need to restart mate, if that is the cause then more and more people will get it and they’ll have to fix it

Yeah, I tend to save in this game very often, so I ended up with a bunch of recent saves by the time I checked my stash. I suppose they will get around to fixing it, but who knows when that could be? I may have to put the game down for a while, which sucks, because I won’t have another to play until March 30th if they don’t fix this one by then.

And it’s definitely not because your running out of ram, hard drive space , vram, pagefile and all that yeah ?

I have no idea if that sort of thing takes up ram slave

I am on Xbox One X, but I can tell you that I have tons of space left on its hard drive because this is the first game I’ve played on it. I simply think the game is not equipped to deal with the sheer quantity of items I’ve amassed. When it comes to game design, I’m illiterate, so I don’t know what the root cause of my problem is. All I know is that if it’s not resolved in the upcoming patch or the one after, I’ll just have to restart the game, in which case I will not make this mistake again.

Yeah what a fucker that is mate and a warning at least to the rest of us hoarding nutjobs.

I got the same issue but noticed it only started after installing patch 1.2.5 for Xbox one. Before that not a single problem, now I have to save prior to opening up the storage chest as I’ve lost hours due to it. Of all the bugs I’ve encountered, this one is the most annoying as I’m sure a lot of us are hoarders (just takes one time where you sold/discarded that one item only to have to farm the shit out of it after you found out you need it). Oh and forget about scrolling super fast through your items, scrolling for 5 seconds max to avoid locking.

I have noticed that switching from your inventory back to storage and then moving down an item prior to changing tabs helps. That is if the game doesn’t lock immediately upon opening the storage.

Also, just yesterday I experienced the same issue where the game gets locked but it happened while I was fast traveling. Really hope this gets fixed asap.

I dont know if it will help to you, but im playing on pc and i have after 150 hours of hoarding (traders dont have enough gold, i killed lots of bad guys and once steal everything from Rattays vendors…) - its same from version 1.25-to 1.3.3, problem with game crashing and impossibility to load a saves…

I got info that it could be because have lots of thing in my chest… I never believed too much to this theory…

But i tried to take all option in chest menu twice and game twice crashed… So maybe is really something but chest wrong, because you know lots of thing in still game were problematic… So chest could be too, i never had crash during scrolling, but im on pc.
