Whenever i try and launch KCD it loads for a moment, the mouse changes to the games cursor, then it stops with a message stating that “KCD has stopped working”. I’ve found a few others with the same problem (only like 2 but with no solution) so i’m thinking its an issue on my end but i’ve re-installed/verified game files 3 times now to no avail. It’s also worth mentioning that I was able to play a few weeks ago but came back after a few patches to it not launching. Please help as i’d really like to play, thanks!
where you got it from was a corrupted copy?
Mine is from GOG and never had that bug. Others that caused crashes but not like yours.
I got mine from steam so I doubt it, not to mention I’ve played allot already.
something got corrupted. your steam launcher?
I don’t use mine. I made a desktop shortcut to the game exe file
I have had the GOG galaxy go wonky on me 2x.
I had to dump it and reload.
Tried that as well, no luck =/
please excuse my english. often some small modifications will help:
First do a System-Reboot. After that, make sure that Steam is not running. If it is running, close ist (not minimize in Tray)
go into the “common” folder of Steam where KCD is installed. Click with the right mouse button on the properties of the game EXE and hook under Compatibility “Run the program as administrator”. Launch Steam again to load the change of setting. Then try again. This has helped me from time to time. Had this prob during the Years on many Games already.
If this is not working, you can try the 2. Option:
Go to Steam menu “Steam Settings” sub-category “In-game”. Deactivate the option “Activate Steam Overlay in the game”. Disables the connection to the community in the game. The option had already brought success. This option should also be made after a system reboot.
Sometimes the crash is due to Steam, not to the game. Just try it. Hope it will help you.

Been reading a lot of un-kind things about steam.
Sadly neither of those fixes worked
Where you store it has a bad spot?
HDD? SSD?
I had 3 HDD’s go bad together on my 'puter old guts
Stored on HDD but nothing else is having issues
Running out of suggestions short of get a physical copy or from GOG. a last ditch desperate move.
Something is bad.
Ask WHS what to do or send to them?
Yeah i’ll reach out to them
Seems silly but id reinstall video drivers.
Win X will update to older drivers (official ones) and sometimes they miss bits of fruit that full package later built drivers had.
Ar the very least it might refresh things in the typical ‘have you tried switching it off and then on again’.
Well i found the solution! Wanted to share it here in case someone suffered a similar problem. After navigating to and deleting ALL saved information under my user profile the game booted instantly, i have NO idea why this worked or what the issue was but i’m glad its fixed, thanks anyway for the help guys!
Something on steam musta gotten corrupted and wiping out all and start afresh prolly eliminated it.
I have been reading here a few unkind things said about Steam recently and their changes.
