Crime system overhall!

Alright so i’ve tested the crime system top to bottom murder to just koing people in bed even just thieving. This needs a major fix if i ko a person before they have a chance to report the fact that i pickpocketed them then they shouldn’t even be able to report it when they wake up especially if they were asleep or i hit them from behind? How does it make any sense for someone who never saw my face to be able to report that i did something crime related? Or the fact that you can kill every witness in the area so no one knows you did something wrong but yet the whole province knows your a crook? I mean really what the heck? I’ve managed to master lock picking and just about all the other thieving aspects but this bull crap crime system is really killing my play through.

I should mention that my rep in Rattay is utterly %@#ed because of this thing.

Yeah, unfortunately we’d have to let the devs priority these things over other issues, which is unlikely, or wait for them to release the mod tools. hopefully, the tools are robust enough to where we can change AI behaviors and just not replace models and textures. The crime system is probably very bare bones, and the game knows you commited a crime and reports it. It would have to be redone so the NPCs report it.

This is actually really unfortunate because I was really excited after watching a video WH published (in 2014 however) detailed their design on the world’s agent’s AI. It seemed fairly robust, and something like this would be considered (skyrim even does it better, as killing witnesses of a crime removes the bounty). But for some reason, it looks like the crime system isn’t modeled very well at all.
Immersion being the huge draw of this game, these issues do stand out for me than others.

Mods may be an issue for me as i am a ps4 player so that may never even see the light of day. besides if they are willing to overhall lockpicking why not the crime system?

The lockpicking issue is trivial in comparison. Overhauling a minigame is magnitudes easier than overhauling something as complex a crime system. You are effectively modeling human behavior.
The system we want would involve changing the AI such that they would have to be able to witness actions, determine what actions are a crime, and how to go about reporting it. All of which I am sure, by reading your account, is not what the game does, and would have to be created. Doing this would take a lot more work as it touches on many more of the game’s systems, and owing to that, is more likely to introduce more bugs, so more care and consideration (i.e time and effort) is needed when doing this. where as lock-picking is a fairly isolated affair.

Thats my point though why fix the tiny crap when there are other larger issues at hand that should be fixed first.

Well, resources are limited, and they can only a work on a limited amount of things. So many people are complaining about lockpicking and saving, moreso than this crime system. So, look at it from their standpoint. What’s more worth it to throw time and money at? An easy issue bugging a lot of players, or a potentially huge issue bugging not as many?

I agree completely, this current crime system is absolutely horrendous

I can’t even play the game at this point because of the system i’ve utterly ruined my rep because of a streak of bad luck…

Adding my support for an overhaul of the crime system. I don’t tend to play outlaw type characters but that’s a serious problem for those who do.

Yo i got a new story for yall. So i am in Ledetchko and i choke out two guys no witnesses to get an item. I leave and am now in Rattay my rep there has since gown down to nothing… Tell me HOW THE FUCK, they know i did the crime when i koed them from behind and am now miles away?

I absolutely agree. It’s such a pain.

So I stole a horse at the northern end of Rattay and rode it around outside the town for quite a while. Got off it at the southern entrance of the town and then got on it again as two random villagers were around. Dude ran to me yelling “Thief!”. How the flying f$#% does a random stranger know it’s a horse I stole?

On a different account, I killed two people in the outskirts of Rattay with no witnesses around and even hid the corpses. Going to the city I got arrested. sigh

To our extreme disappointment, https://www.reddit.com/r/kingdomcome/comments/7xswog/qa_has_known_about_reputationcrime_system_issues/

I agree with this. Whether or not a complete overhaul is needed is up for debate, but as it stands, this game is definitely not ready for thief/assassin role-play.

As as example, in one instance, there’s me trying to be sneaky after dark roaming around town and looking for easy pickings, and every 2nd person that walks down the path SHOUTS greetings to me: “Good to see you, Henry!” “Greetings Henry!” “Good day to you Henry!”. Its so completely off-putting. How do they know my name when I’ve been in the town for just a day or so (gametime)? Why do they greet only me? Can’t they see I’m trying to be bloody sneaky?

That coupled with the pretty unimaginative theives quests has had me put this game to the side for a while.

I’ve been knocking out guards/nobles and pick-pocketing them for some side quests in Rattay. Nobody has seen me, no crime has been reported and my reputation has not been affected. So for me, the crime system appears to be working so far… I’m playing on PS4 Pro

I definitely agree that the crime system needs an overhaul. I killed the executioner on the first mission in Rattay and now everyone hates me, even if I didn’t get thrown in jail for it. Immersion ruined. I haven’t wanted to play since I found out the reputation system doesn’t seem to work with my play style. Disappointing.

IMO, some of it works, some of it doesn’t. For instance, you commit a crime and no one at all sees you do it, they shouldn’t come after you for the crime. But…knocking people out while they sleep, they do wake up and struggle, so they can see your face during that time and report you as the culprit. that’s real. Stealing, though, I’ve stolen stuff and have no one see me, and suddenly I’m the thief. That’s not real. So maybe some tweaks.

I both agree and disagree with you. I completely agree with what you said about the reputation system. It makws absolutely no sense for everyone to know you are a criminal if you have not been reported. Some argue it is about rumors, but if no one sees you commit the crime or even sees you go out of or be near the place the crime was sommited then it makes no sense to have rumors about it. Like you can kill someone out on the road and somehow people still magically know that the only person it could have been is you. It makes no sense and kind of ruins the idea of being a thief, since it is apparently impossible to be an extremely skilled thief with all towns people having an all seeing eye.

But i will disagree with the idea that knocking someone out after being caught should magically make it so they didnt see you. It can very easily be argued that as soon as they f eel someone rumaging around in their pockets their eyes would pop open and see you (much like what would happen in real life if you felt a strangers hands in your pants while you were supposed to be sleaping alone). And while one could say “i would just wear soemthing to cover my face” that kind of breaks the gameplay. Since then you could commit most any crime and just knock out all witnesses after and never get caught for anything. Essentially it runs the risk of becoming to realistic and sacrificing good gameplay.

gonna add my +1 to this!

Has anyone tried out this mod? I really wanted to leave my game as vanilla but I am really thinking of downloading this as I haven’t had the willpower to fire up KC:D since the day after I killed the executioner when I found out about reputation (everyone hated me).
