Devs please don't dumb this game down to please the masses

Hello everyone this is my first post on this forum and all I have to say about this game going forward is please please please devs DON’T water any part of it down. This is by a long way the most impressive game I’ve ever played. The fact that you can’t even block properly at the beginning of the game is amazing game design and the way you need to practice practice practice to get better “genius”

There’s a lot of young ones on here who seem to be whining about gameplay mechanics that they quite simply don’t understand and I’m worried that you might start watering it down a bit to please these guys.

You guys have made something that us rpg fans have been crying out for, for a very long time. I currently have two play thro going on … the first one I’m being all noble and honest and my second well… let’s just say im having a lot of fun with my second altered ego Henry

Thank you for making a truly unique gaming experience guys and i wish you all the success and luck in the world.
One very happy MuzZ

Too bad they will dumb it down if it means more people will buy the game. If they dumb it down so the ‘masses’ will buy the game, then they will. It means more profit and they will want that profit to fund the next instalment of the game.

Don’t forget, the whole prupose of a company is to make money.

I’m currently serving 7 days in jail as im writing this… I haven’t completed this game yet and im already looking forward to chapter 2.

I personally don’t think they need to go with the crowd on this, it’s about time someone had the balls to go against the grain and give it a couple of months i think this game will gather some real momentum especially on the pc with mods… I think a lot of people will be talking about this game for a long time and fingers crossed we’ll see a kingdom come chapter 2 at some point in the future.

If they don’t make enough profit then that means they won’t be able to make another game. They will have to get the money from somewhere, and crowdfunding may not work a 2nd time.

Yeah but if they dumb it down I wont ever buy the next game they make and prolly alotta alotta other people wont either and the whiney masses are fickle AF so its a slippery slope. Stand by your vision or you lose respect.

companies already prepare for that. They many of them already have an estimate of how many players they could lose to changes and how many they can pick up If their numbers show that they only losee 500 players, but get another 1500, then they will make the change.

Besides, at this point it doesn’t matter as they already have your money from this game. And since they now have atual developing experiance and know what to do and what not to do, the next game will work better of which will have more peopole intersted in it.

Apart from company economics being a bit more complex than that, which EA and lootboxes have shown clearly, WH have sold over expectations even the first few days. So I don´t assume that they need to “dumb it down” simply to make sales for a 2nd game.

Also the statement of 2nd kickstarter “not working” is not true at all, divnity and wasteland both have been funded for 2nd game through crowds succesfully.

however, personally I truly hope they will not dumb it down, and you can fear that they will aim for early crash-grab by doing that over long-term building up the brand. But simply stating that they are “only” to make profit, that would also mean that every company would (and should) use lootboxes, and given the current controversy going on with that it´s clear that “profit” is not as simple long-term. To come with a non-game example, clothing brands are also companies that only care about profits, however when they are caught/discovered that they make their cloth by child labours, since it increases profits… What do you imagine happens to the company in long-term

Could not agree more.

SOmehow I disagree. I was not a backer/kickstarter person for this game but if they needed funding for an additional game, I could be convinced to get my wallet out.

I fully back up this statement.

You’re absolutely right. It’s impossible to please everyone, so it’s best to improve existing things instead of changing them from scracht due to some - pardon - morons whinig because reading the game’s description apparently was too challenging for their tiny brains.
