Dialog Skill Check Game System

Should you have a choice in dialog options offering more than one skill check, should you be able to apply them all?

Say that you have 2 dialog question options; one that requires a speech skill check and another that requires a strength skill check to succeed, if you fail at one of the skill check options (for example the strength question option), should you be able to also try the other skill check question option (speech in this example)?

It depends on:
When you first try to charm, and after you aren´t successful, you do it by strenght. (->it´s a feature)

On the other side:
You are on a main quest. You choose a wrong anwer (not enough attribute - at the moment).
After that you have no talking options (-> a feature; but if it breaks the quest then it´s a bug)

@insatiabledev Your suggestion is very good!
@Blacksmith Yes, halting quest progress because of wrong choices is a wonderful thing which would make Deliverance shine amongst other games. As long there is always another way to finish the quest, given the player has enough wits and imagination to find it

@insatiabledev yes I had that same question on my mind. However choosing the “wrong option” could lead to less useful responses if you succeed with other skills in the end or a worse general relationship.

Still I’m wondering about something: In games like Monkey Island (I know, Daniel’s not into that game) you sometimes had to use a similar dialogue option several times to succeed in the dialogue. What if you could use the same option twice or three times? Just because you yell at somebody once, doesn’t mean he’s afraid of you. But if you put more pressure on that person, you might get the answer you need. There must be a reason to torture somebody, right?

Or even maybe a timing offset or like @YuusouAmazing said torturing someone in a fashion appropriate to the situation (not just selecting a generalized option for it) or finding the guy at a bar and buying him drinks.

Maybe the options could be discovered by talking to others that know this person or finding clues (like sneaking into the guys house and snooping around in his third dresser drawer finding he has some crazy fetish he doesn’t want others to know). Then come back and there is a new option or a different skill check with added bonus points.

Just throwing out ideas

???
That´s the way it works in KCD.
If you found the stinking meat… a new talking option.
If you talk to the fisherman or Jerry wife … new talking options.

Do the strenght option:
It would be nice if there is not only a different phrase in the cut scene. I would prefer a unique scene. Something like Henry smashes the other guy to the ground and puts his knife to his throat. Just for more attention. (Like in Mass Effect)
