Often when I’m wasting my time and groshen at a tavern playing dice, my opponent will leave some of their scoring dice on the board (so that they don’t score with them and can throw the dice again). Are my opponents often just a bit thick, or, perhaps myopic?
I don’t mind, of course. Means more winnings for me, but it just seems like they aren’t playing properly.
It does seem like the AI could use some improvements. It might be strategic, though- depends on what they’re keeping and what they choose to throw again. I go for 3-of-a-kind and 1’s. Fives are usually not worth keeping, so it’s better to throw again and hope for a triple. I think it would be better if the score threshhold was raised- more incentive to take chances and succeed.
