there’s overlap. hence your derision in the other thread was off base as a fan of KCD
weapon repair didn’t originate with KCD. yes, RDR2 has weapon repair. but KCD has a differentiator… technique is needed to repair swords and axes on the grind stone. RDR2 repairs are just a stroking the barrel animation. to my eyes, that’s a significant gap/shortcoming of RDR2.
the horse care (food, medicine, brushing, patting) isn’t a part of KCD . my experience in KCD is that ‘borrowed’ horses are mortal but your own horse is immortal. all horses in RDR2 can be killed. additionally, RDR2 has NPC controlled horses and wagons that you can take over. probably wouldn’t have (temporarily) stopped playing KCD if these RDR2 aspects were present in KCD.
RDR2 doesn’t appear to have clothing (armour) degradation so this is a gap, not a stolen or borrowed idea. in RDR2, your appearance impacts NPC reaction/perception of you (eg don’t bathe and shave and peeps will be turned off). this is similar… though i don’t believe a dirty, damaged waffenrock elicits negative reaction in KCD beyond ‘what happened to you’.
still don’t understand why killing hundreds of bandits and Cumans and aiding countless guards doesn’t more positively influence town rep in KCD, but that doesn’t negate the fact that good-bad deeds influence rep in both KCD and RDR2.
RDR2 carcasses decay. that’s the same as KCD food, but in RDR2 food in inventory doesn’t appear to decay. so that’s a gap (KCD advantage)
RDR2 is like KCD in that you can rent a room and pay for bathing. Both allow you to access clothing inventory in the rented room. RDR2 has bathing animation; havent seen that in KCD.
