Difference between swords

What is the actual difference between the agility based weapons (shortsword, hunting sword, and sabres)? I’m making a “rogue-like” character for a second playthrough and I can’t decide what to focus on. I know the perks for the sword comboes that affect one of those affect em all but I’d like to hear from y’all about the tangible differences. Thanks in advance!

Short swords have less reach, are faster and take less stamina than lomgswords.

Thanks for the response but I’m not including longswords. The agility based swords. Shortswords, Hunting Swords, and Sabres

Shortswords are agility based Longswords are strength based.

Longswords do more damage and have bigger reach but aren’t as defensive.

Short Swords do less damage, scale of agility and allow you to use a shield.

Short Swords also attack faster at the expense of damage with the correct perks.

Thank you but, once again, I’m not comparing longswords to shortswords. What is the difference between short swords, hunting swords, and sabres?

Other than the cosmetic/damage of each individual weapon… Nothing.

They are all classified as Short Swords.

What are the differences then in terms of damage? And are the moves (not comboes but how Henry physically swings the sword) different between the three of them?

I think the difference is the distribution of stats, one has better slash, other Pierce and other with a little better blunt damage.

Speed and swings are the same, I think…

Since I won’t be using one with a shield, which of those 3 swords has the best defense?

I think short sword have better defense.

Noble Sword is the best short sword in the game, I think.

I haven’t seen a lot of sabers but the best hunting sword in the game isn’t as good as the best short sword which is Noble Sword.

You get 61/61/4 damage from it.

EDIT - Noble Sword also has best defense stat as well.

Thanks for all the replies! I think I’m gonna go with shortsword. Kinda cool to rp a rogue with a shortsword for combat and a dagger for sneak kills. You can’t equip daggers right?

Nope only for stealth kills. Which makes sense I suppose. No fool would bring a dagger to a sword fight… Right?

Correct! First things first, gonna make my way to Uzhitz to learn how to read… lmao thanks guys

No problem, reading comes in handy. Get some useful information from there plus it helps you in some quests.

Short swords actually have less defense, look at their defensive stat, they make up for this with speed and taking less stamina, long swords have higher defense ratings so they are easier to use without shields, have a longer reach but take more stamina to use, on that note, where do you get the nobles sword? I’ve done most of the side missions but haven’t gone very far on the main.

I have Queen of Sheba s sword, Magdeburg longsword heirloom, obviously herods sword, Stinger and the others but haven’t gotten old family heirlooms, exotic eastern Sabre or Lucerne, ravens break mace, or noble sword.

Noble Swords have the best defense of the Short Sword category…

Noble swords in are various treasure chests from treasure maps.

North East of Neuhof… By the archer range if you follow the road North East you’ll find a camp on the road that has an unlocked chest… It has a ton of good items in it one of them being the Noble Sword.

Didn’t quite understand why such high level equipment was right next door to one of the earliest quests and it’s not even difficult to obtain. It looks like a shortened Herod’s Sword.

Devs stated it’s a glitch and that’s where the St George end game stuff is. It wasn’t there for me but it doesn’t matter. Do you remember by chance what treasure map it was in? I haven’t actually gotten any of the treasure chests yet.

Matter of fact I think I do… East of Rattay and south of Neuhof I remember one being one here… I THINK. Inside the hut there is a chest.

I use a longsword and shield together, the best defensive combination, though if I could find a hand-&-a-Half sword midway between a short and a long sward in length and stats that would be better.

Except in fantasy novels where “thief-class” carry dagger to a sword fight : )).
