Disk or Download with bugs?

I was wondering, for those folks playing on the PS4… are you experiencing bugs with a disk from store or a downloaded copy of the game?

I’m experiencing a ton of bugs on disk, but a buddy of mine is experiencing none with his downloaded copy.

Do you think this could make a difference? I love the game so much I would willingly buy it again and download it from the PS4 store if that would solve my issues.

Thoughts?

I know some people still experience a lot of bugs and have problems with old saves, but for me since the patch 1.3 my quest bugs are solved(kinda) and everything else works too so far. Can’t report any big problems. And i am on Disc Version too.

Disc no problems

How far into the game are you?

I did the first playthrough in 80 hours with no trouble.
I am currently in my 2nd.
Now clocking 80 hours and i am just post neuhof pre lubosh.
I have had the halberds laying everywhere and last night a talking corpse.
1 crash but thats it.

Groovy. Just trying to see if it’s a pace issue, or something. The bugs just seem so random… if I could figure out what was causing them, I’d just stop doing whatever it was I am doing.

I’ve experienced hardly any of the bugs that people have been reporting and I’m playing the Digital Download version on PS4 Pro.

Also I’m playing at quite a slow pace, so may not of encountered some bugs yet due to my slow quest progress.

Yes it would be great if everyone can have the same experience i have had and still have.

My pace is also very slow.
Sometimes i spend hours in the woods just exploring and hunting.

Last night i was looking to get myself a full knight armor…b3cause why not.
Spend hours battling bandits and cumans. Till i found a grave and i dug it up. It contained a milanese cuirass loaded dice all kinds of stuff that fits my playstyle now.
I was standing there. Sun went down. I looked up to the sky and said…jesus christ be praised

I was doing that on my latest playthough as well… just hunting and picking locked chests… I never even went to see Radzig until yesterday, and I just popped in and said hi so I could get at the chests in that room.

Then for some reason the game started putting me in slow motion after I talked to merchants or looked at my inventory… It lasted a minute or so then everything sped back up to normal. I didn’t notice at first because I was just walking around. then I got on my horse and tried to gallop… no luck.

I jumped back a couple of saves and everything was fine for a while, then it started happening again… so I jumped back a few more saves… and it happened again… by the time i was close to the beginning of the game, and it kept happening, I just gave up and started the game over.

Since the patch most folks don’t have heads until I stop and stare at them for a while.

Other random stuff keeps popping up for no apparent reason… and I think that’s the kicker… If there was some pattern to it, I’d avoid it. But I can’t because it’s like the game is constantly flipping a coin in the background and if it comes up heads, I see some new and interesting bug.

Yes i know what you mean.
I did the heist with mattew and fritz.
I i failed and reloaded they both dissapeared from the game.
Had to go back to a hard save (in a bed)
Worked for me.

Which saves aren’t “hard” saves?

I think schnapps and save and exit. Its just guessing for me so far. Instead of hating i try to find logic.
Kcd for all!!!

Both games when patched are essentially the same game. (Downloaded versions include any updates).

There is one potential huge difference between your systems that might make the game play very differently… and is a fix I have employed a few times. (It works for me and a few others- one or two people say it didnt work but their technical levels were low and I didnt check if they did the steps, my estimate being they did not)

So why the differences?
The game remains the same… but the way the system reads the game is different from system to system.
For a few reasons.
1)Users might have replaced their drives. Not all drives are the same- some feature say two or four 250Gb platters for a total of 500/1000Gb. Another drive might use 333Gb platters (x3) to make a 1000Gb (1 terabyte) disc.
Playstations when they set up the internal disc, leave scratchspace for faster games loading on thenoutside of the platter. If a user has changed the drive they could really destroy loading speeds/streaming speeds.
Most games are not as tricky as KCD and wouldnt reveal the issue.
2) (most likely) drive is fragmented. Even if drive wasnt fragmented to begin with… 23Gb patches can fragment pretty easily and install… as xan refular large updates like we have been getting…

To this I offer a solution; backup your game install to an external storage device. Clean up internal drive (ideally a format, but that wipes all data, so I suggest to delete a few games from the console when it was first bought. They will likely be at the start of the drive and continuous… should free up around 80Gb ideally.

This fix works if the free space is all together. (Not scattered in little pockets all over the drive- which is what we are trying to fix)

Anyhow- cleanup done- copy/restore backed up game onto the system drive again.
The game files should now all sit neatly together.

This will hreatly help any game using large amounts of hi quality streaming assets. (There aren’t many- so most users have never seen these issues before)

Anyhow… game file fragmentation is the greatest cause for system to system differences.
Good luck
