Hey I am wondering what is causing the popping textures in the game.
You are probably playing on a hdd instead of a ssd. I switched the game over to a ssd and set r_TexturesStreamingMipBias -3
Then I didn’t have popping or blurry textures anymore. I also set lods slightly higher. I have a 980 TI.
Thanks for the tip mate ! I elements dont pop anymore (like shadows and textures when loading a save, peopole in the street a few meters away, even an entire house once…).
It seems to also ease the constant freezing, without eliminating it entirely (still some 1-5 seconds freezes each 2-3 minutes), but it’s more enjoyable now without the whole world constantly popping around you…
How do you set LOD higher than what the graphical settings allow? Any .ini tweaks that are possible?
I got these settings from another thread, values where all at 255, tried 300 but it caused too much performance drop, so I set them to 200 (in meters).
Warning, possible heavy fps drop using those values (default is 100).
Put those lines in the user.cfg, and to be sure type +exec user.cfg in Steam launch options of the game
e_ViewDistRatio=200
e_ViewDistRatioVegetation=200
e_ViewDistMin=200
e_MergedMeshesInstanceDist=200
e_MergedMeshesViewDistRatio=200
e_LodRatio=200
and to enable very distant lights (home lights, torches at night, etc.) :
e_ViewDistRatioLights=1000
but it was really the r_TexturesStreamingMipBias -3 that eliminate the poping things for me.
The texture pop in is the reason i can’t play this game on xbox. This is by far the worst looking xbox one x enhanced title i have ever seen.
BRO! r_TexturesStreamingMipBias -3 seems to have greatly reduced the microstutter that I have been noticing. Too early to tell but can you please tell me what that setting does and what is the default value in case I need to revert? Thanks a lot
Warhorse Studios, it would be nice if you could also comment on this please!
