Does this game still have tons of bugs?

So I kinda wanna get the collectors edition, but I’m just scared I’m gonna waste my very limited money for a game that I couldn’t even play. Like, I honestly need to know this.

If so, I have plan B: Get the standard edition of Kingdom Come alongside Lis: Before the storm.

And even if that’s a bad idea, maybe I’ll get Ni No Kuni 2? Who knows. I just want a good game to play!

I’ve finished the main story yesterday, just epilog is left to finish. My opinion:

  1. You can play the game through on PC without critical showstopper.
  2. You may hit some bug-walls preventing few side quest finishing.
  3. You will definitely get some rage quits.
  4. You will enjoy the game, or at least big part of it.

to be honest, most of the bugs posted here are caused by low perfomance pc´s and corrupt save files with bad mods.

i made some changes on my drivers/ Game settings and everything works how it should. some small bugs but no gamebreaking bugs. its worth a try now. or wait for patch 1.4 then hopefully its fine for most of the players.

I have 98 hours in-game and have yet to run into any major bugs. I’ve had one or two conversations loop forcing a reload, which was pretty frustrating. And there was a bugged quest I ran into in Talmberg, but I just did it a different way and all was fine. Probably fixed by now anyway since that was very early.

There’s still a substantial amount of fairly glitchy behavior that doesn’t really break anything. Frankly most of it is stuff you should expect from a game like this, just things like occasional camera placement issues during conversations, some clipping with a few of the armor pieces, occasional animation weirdness during fights, etc. all Bethesda RPGs have had (and still do have…) worse.

You’re obviously gonna get a biased answer from the people on this forum, but I would say if the game seems interesting to you it’s worth the buy. Like I said I have 98 hours in it, spend almost all of my time in-game doing quests, and I’m not even all the way through with the main quest yet. There’s a ton of content to play through and for the most part it’s very well done.
Personally I wouldn’t bother with the collector’s edition though.

EDIT: Should clarify that this is regarding the PC version, I have heard that the consoles have it worse when it comes to bugs and things of that nature.

I’ve got some 35 hours now and haven’t faced any serious bugs so I’d say this game is good to go. Sure there are some glitches here and there, who cares. I’m a SW engineer so I know game like this can never be bug free.

Just to be clear, I would be getting the PS4 version.

These guys are living on planet positive. This game is buggy as they come, period (I’m also a Software Engineer, and a professional games developer).

That’s the honest answer to your question.

But maybe it’s the wrong question. Is the game worth buying? I would say yes. Despite the bugs, it’s still great fun, the developers seem committed to releasing patches for fixes and improvements, and you’d be supporting a cool indie game company trying something a little bit unique (and tbh it is only “a little bit” unique. It’s nowhere near as realistic, open-ended as I have seen some people claim).

Long story short, it’s buggy but playable and lots of fun, but not as realistic or open as advertised.

(I play it on PS4 Pro)

Eh, not to argue but “Planet Positive” is just my experience with the game. My response was also an honest answer to their question. I’m fully aware others have had experiences marred by a plethora of both major and minor bugs, but personally I haven’t.

Certainly it’s true that it’s not as realistic or open as advertised though. Most quests will have lots of choice as for how you get to the end, but the end will be more or less the same. And the “medieval life sim” claims are just ridiculous. It feels more or less like a standard RPG with a grounded setting and some neat innovations here and there.

The question was, does this game still have a ton of bugs? Any answer that’s not “yes” is unrealistically positive. I agree with you there is a “but…”, which I think I made clear on my original reply.

I think there’s so many little bugs that don’t really have much effect on the gameplay (clipping issues with clothing and weapons, horses getting stuck on fences, broken optional side quests, people walking through objects or walking around with no head, etc), that after a while your brain just turns off to them and you ignore it. But if you saw that kind of stuff in some other games it would really stand out as wrong.

Yes, it’s a shame about it not being so open or realistic. I was hoping for a “open world medieval sim”. But it’s pretty much the same as every other RPG, just with more realistic combat mechanics and a few different ways to complete the scripted quests. Unfortunately the “open gameplay” quickly devolves into a poach/loot-bandit-corpses and then sell it for big $$$ and then buy cool stuff. Which is fun enough in itself for even as long as a week.

It’s still a bunch of fun though. They did so many things right, I don’t want to across too negative. Its still probably the best RPG out there imo. It just falls short of the hype. The way you can layer clothing and armour, that also gets dirty and damaged, and all the choices of clothing and armour and weapons is awesome. The combat mechanics are the best I’ve seen in any RPG, and the medieval world is well represented and historically more accurate than any other game I’ve seen. It’s also worth noting that even though the quests are scripted and more or less just like every other RPG, unlike the others, there’s often more ways to complete them in KCD.

@text gotta be careful with those generalizations. I can be almost certain my PC is higher spec than yours and I have crippling issues with camera shakes. Its a physics bug.

you are right. thats why i said “most of the bugs”. as other said, a game like this will never be bugfree, but as long as it is not gamebreaking, i’ll take that. they announced performance patches. So if you have a good Pc you should be fine later on

I would still wait, I started to play the game and I am 86 hours into game now, but almost every sidequest is bugged. So I did leave the game for now and planning to get back after few patches and when I can finish all my bugged sidequests. I haven’t even started to play main quest, cuz I am afraid something will be bugged as well, so yeah, I took break for now and I suggest you to wait a bit as well.

To be fair performance was never really an issue, even on ultra. At-least until the game gave me a headache from the shakes. Definitely better optimized games out there. Back to my point, I am being a bit of a pedant, but without a statistical analysis I would steer clear of things like “most”. You could perhaps use the word “many”. I know I am being that guy though.

I’ve restarted twice because I figured out a lot of the side quests are ridiculously bugged, like sometimes you won’t get rewards, some you won’t know are timed, some even the NPC’s themself just are broke and you can’t talk too, oh and there’s still the case of the bugged BIRD CAGE quest, I’m a huge completions guy so just doing the main story won’t satiate me, however, if you can just go that route, by all means, go for it, the game outside of that is the most immersive medieval game I have ever played but…

Ni No Kuni 2 isn’t bugged, and it’s really fun especially if you came from the first, slow start, AMAZING when you get to build your kingdom.

Your choice though, I own both and can tell you my experience thus far
