Does your horse get better by use and whats the point of buying a new one

If I recall correctly my horse had the speed of 26 or 28 when I got it. And now that I decided to go and buy a new one, I see that my horse has speed of 42 and has higher stats than basically any other horse in the land

So can somebody with deeper knowledge of the game answer me two questions:

  1. What is the point of buying a new horse, aside from the color
  2. and what does the tier of the horse stand for, besides general categorization of how good it is

following…need more carry weight, not sure if its worth buying anew horse of if i can buy saddle bags for more inventory space

bought a tier 5 horse on my first playthrough it had close to 400 carry weight capasity when i added a saddle bag 4 pockets, cant remember the name thou xD

I don’t believe the stats on the horse improve with use. I use my horse all the time and she has the exact same speed she started with when I bought her near the beginning of the game.

yup they don’t improve with use

I don’t know about horse stats improving over time, but what I do know is that the speed is affected by horseshoes and a saddle. With the Racehorse perk, the fastest horse in the game is Warhorse Jenda, with 74 speed (with military horseshoes and a noble 4-bag saddle ). I don’t know what other factors affect the horse stats, but here is my recent video for all the horses you can buy, their prices, appearance and stats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zYf1q7q89k

This is true, however, it should be noted that horses are only slowed down by saddles due to the weight. The lighter the saddle, the less the horse’s speed is hindered.

because of that, I was about to explain that a no bag saddle would or 2 bag saddle would allow Jenda to be faster, but this isn’t true. for some reason, the no bag saddle is the heaviest and all the saddles with bags weigh exactly the same. (this is referencing the noble saddle - steam (US) version 1.2.5)

I find that odd and unfortunate.

It seems that only the racehorse perk affected the stats since I haven’t yet got the saddle or horseshoes. I can’t believe I forgot about the perk. Thanks for the reply m8.
