Dressing as an enemy

heyho.
got a question about the clothing system.
i tried many times now to clear bandit and cuman camps. problem is, only fighting is boring (for me) so i tried to go other ways. i read something about that you can dress like bandit/cuman, and they dont will fight you, so you can poison their eating/wine etc.
but regardless of what im doing or as what im getting dressed up, the enemies just look and me, shout something and then attack me.
is this normal? even if i get fully dressed as a cuman, with cuman weapons, they just are attacking me. on the other side i can go to talmberg, rattay etc dressing up as an enemy, but all people just say hello heinrich, and treat me like im dressed as a normal person.
is this a bug? or am i doing something wrong?

would appreciate it if someone can help me. cause i think its frustrating, in such a wonderful game…

well, as far as i know (from my own experience) you can dress as a cuman… although, you’ll get 3 chances to mislead the other cumans, they’ll stop you 3 times and say whatever in hungarian, and you have one answer for each time, the fourth time they stop you (regardless of what you do), they’ll identify you and you’re screwed…
now, whenever i tried dressing as a bandit i got recognized, so about this idk

Yeah i want to know too. I saw it on videos pre release, but haven’t pulled it off yet. I also tried to poison a certain quest of bandits and they never ate my poison after 12 hours :-\

tried that with cumans now more than once, they just yell and attack me… i really dont know what im doing wrong. killed all cumans in one camp, got dressed up as one, went to the other camp and then that happened. well, i guess i have to try more, so i can find out what i am doing wrong…

I think you might only be able to disguise yourself during the one quest where you need to infiltrate the camp. It’s never worked for me on the random Cuman camps.

@Jack_DeWitt i do believe you are correct after that its all about your stealth ability to sneak into camps at night and poison whine or food

Unfortunate . It would be awesome to disguise frequently. I also would like to disguise myself to avoid constant guard harassment in rattay. Im about to snap… I literally had to kill one rattay guard because he kept attacking me on sight. … Followed him into a house, choked him out, then killed him with my sword

ah ok i see. well, then i can just hope that the developers or a good modder can implant a disguise system. i would totally love that, because it would be a very good attachment to the game, and would make it way more realistic. anyways, thanks for your answers.

Yes, disguising your way into the enemy camp is a one time deal for a main line quest near the end of the game. To poison normal camps you have to stealth in and stealth out. Honestly it makes sense, a band of 4 to 6 bandits should recognize anyone in their crew on sight. Unless turnovers are really high in their line of work lol might need to report that to OSHA

In a full helmet? What if it’s a captain or scout or new recruit or any of that?

In small camps everyone knows each other, and people recognise you because they know Henry. If you go to a town you’ve not been before they may attack you and if you enter a major camp (like Prybislavitz) you should be able to walk around.

Though I don’t think there’s anything that makes people think you’re a bandit, not sure about this though.

if i understood this good you must steal clothes/armor from one bandit of EACH camp (could NOT be armor from somewhere else) . they must think you are his “friend” , so you must kill one first somehow (its hard) … but i dont try this yet

with bandit camps i agree partially. yeah, a little camp of bandits should know each other yes. but maybe you can dress like, a new bandit (in areas you dont were before so they maybe dont know henry)
but in a cuman camp with a cuman helmet covering youre whole face, it would be nice if they dont see you as henry, but as a cuman (maybe scout or something else) till they are going to take a closer look to you and start questioning you who you are etc. hope you can understand me :slight_smile:
