What does the community think about an economy in deliverance? Would it be viable? would it add to the gameplay? Here’s what I think. An area is largely influenced by its economy. A city that grows high quality wine will have vineyards and high quality inns. There would be regular shipments out of the city to other nobles and rich merchants. Maybe a city near mountains would export stone and iron but would have to import food. All these things play a large part in a geographic sense. There would be caravans on the road, bandits would rob them and mercenary’s would guard them. Perhaps once a player accumulates enough money the could invest in shipments? start a trading company? underwrite cost of shipments as a favor for some one in financial trouble? Just my ideas on something with the potential to truly model a world.
I don’t think that investing during the time of civil war makes much sense. Moreover in situation when the King is abducted and the countryside is raided by foreign invaders on daily basis.
Also, the possibility of a common blacksmith to become a tycoon in 15th century Bohemia were limited at best. And if there was some chance to accumulate some wealth, it definitely wouldn’t be possible during a half-a-year time.
I get what your saying about about a blacksmith being unlikely to do these things, but I would think an area might have geographical features that would match with its economy.
I actually really like the idea, yes there might be a war going on, but that just cries for more money right? well that need more investments and more hard work… it would make sense for bandits trying to get a cut by, as u say, rob the merchants and such… i think it would add to the atmosphere, and think u are on to something
i like some of the ideas you have mentioned but as WarHorse mentioned in their monthly blogs. They have to stop implementing new ideas and start working on the blueprint/script of the game, ft they ever want to move on. You never know they might have thought of these ideas already and have them in the game but I wouldn’t dwell nor speculate about it :D.
i think thiefs and bandits are already included. furthermore the map is what? 9 by 9 kilometers? the regional difference should be quite smal. if at all there are a few villages. i cant imagine any “geographical variation”. its not like other RPGs where u have a dessert some mountains, the sea and a few snowy areas within walking distance
