As much as I hate to think of it. I will eventually finish this game, or have to wait for the next part. What will be some things we can do waiting for the game to progress. Some ideas that I see floating are MP Tournaments, World Invasion (Dark Souls <3), Wars, Dungeons, A challenge system (like in Hitman) What about making a way to build your own quests that others can try like Contracts (Hitman again sorry). This form topic is open to creative suggestion.
contracts? this isn’t a hitman game. and i have played that awful game. they totally ruined the franchise and contracts was their poor attempt to make the game replayable since they made it so linear.
this game doesn’t need that. it doesn’t need mp, or “world invasion” whatever that is.
what happened to replaying the game or just exploring the sandbox?
Randomized and endless Damsels that are in need of saving…
Ohh this just popped into my head. What about a side mode where you can relive (to a degree) some of the greatest folk stories of Europe. Like the quest for the holy grail, going through what Arthur did to become king, Robin hood or Baron Von Munchausen, or there are so many non-fantasy German folk tales I know of. I’m really interested in playing actual historical events tho.
More come to mind: In-game festivals that hold tournaments and battles. Maybe once a month, all single-player of course. Endless Bounties to collect (randomized.) There are many possible ways to extend the game. Good thing the Devs will allow mods.
Simple solution: play something else.
A good SP game doesn’t need an “endgame” imo. The game should be done after finishing the main quest.
I would normally agree, but the Devs are pushing the whole “Sandbox” idea.
Yeah, but I think they might be pushing it too much. I don’t see this game as a real sandbox game. It’s a story-driven game with some freedom like Witcher or even Baldurs Gate back in the days. It’s nothing like Rust or DayZ where you find your own story, you know, the “real” sandbox and open world games.
For endgame content. I’d say it would need to be like a soldier coming home from war. You know the big battles are over and now all that’s left is life. Working your craft and relationships.
Without further comments please mind this statement on the sandbox topic from KS update #6:
Sandbox
Many people wonder how much of a sandbox our sandbox is going to be. You will be able to solve quests in multiple ways, kill most of NPCs or influence their day/night cycles. We have a complex system of reputation, relationships and law. You can influence local economy to an extent (price of goods).
The player’s character is going to have a place to stay and live, but you will not be able to buy and sell real estate. Nor you can control other characters. Companions/henchmen have their own AI and they are quest-specific. Your character will develop relationships with NPCs.
PLEASE add in free roam in end game and some bandits so their are still some stuff to do. Also when you kill people in town does the population of the town get smaller or do random people come back?
I think the game should end after the main story.
Everything else could be modded in for people who need/want more than that imo.
I get the feeling that no one likes you and your comments, you should just stop commenting and ruining the possiblity of a great game in the making. You try to set limits when this game is being developed. This is an opportunity to make a really good game happen.
I get the feeling that you guys are dreaming too much I don’t want to spoil you your fun, but if you dream too much, you can easily dream absolutely different game and eventually be disappointed. Actually I think Lord Crash did really good point (I mostly like his comments so there is at least one person who likes him
) . What makes the game a good game is not thousands of features but good design, well written script and consideration what is worth to implement and what is better to get rid of. Even though it is AAA game, the budged will be much smaller than the budged of typical AAA games under big publishers. Therefore they have to consider every aspect of the development very well. But don’t worry. They are really talented and committed people who will do the best job they can. And I have no doubt that the game will be absolutely brilliant even though there may not be every feature which you would like to have.
Go home with crash tonight.
I disagree greatly. This is a sandbox game. after the credits you should be able to continue.
A problem I have with games that let you play after the ending is the feeling of “oooookay, now what?” Most games end in some kind of great climax right? There’s the big final battle, there’s all hell breaking loose and you are chasing down your friend who betrayed you in chapter five, or fighting the final boss who has waged war on your people and threaten to eradicate all life, or something like that… then when all that is over, you go back to doing side quests you missed or never finished, even if the ending of the game was made like the world should be completely different now. But it never is. Instead, there you walk, the man who defeated the evil army and saved all the common folks in the land… and you go back to tracking down thieves who stole some family heirloom and rescue kittens from trees, like these people haven’t even noticed a full-on apocalypse almost happened.
In Fallout, all the actions you did throughout the game and the ending you got, they are retold by a narrator what consequences they brought for the years to come. Fallout 2 did the same thing, but it did let you play after the ending with a pop-up message saying something like “everything you do now is non-canon, you are free to fuck around” and you got a book which could raise all your skills to max, so you had something to fuck around with. The world did not react or change that much after the ending, as expected. All you got were civilians commenting on the big explosion on the horizon, I think. Then you could proceed and go kill all the people that the ending told would come and play important roles in the years to come. But it’s ok since you basically play “fuck around free mode”.
A game that did this wrong was Fallout 3. When you reached the original ending, it sucked. Not that the game ended, but because it was anti-climatic and just generally badly made. Then they added a DLC which let you play after the ending, it made up some excuse as to why you didn’t die in all that radiation, and then you got to continue blowing up bad guys in even larger scale than the original game (a Michael Bay DLC.) When you finished all the quests of that DLC, you were left with “I need you to collect cameras for all eternity”… the world didn’t change, nothing changed, you saved the wasteland twice (except from the mutants, you never got any option to destroy the source of the mutants, which was a much bigger threat) and here you are with nothing to do but collect cameras, wander the wastes aimlessly and do minor quests you missed before like repairing some water purifier or deliver some letter. Everything felt even less anti-climatic after that.
So I hope there is a really good ending to Kingdom Come… But I hope that after the ending is done, the credits has rolled, that you are faced with a menu of “Would you like to free play? Everything you do from here on is non-canon. Yes/No” It might seem like a stupid thing to you, that I should just understand that after you’ve done the last quest, everything is probably automaticall non-canon anyway. But you know, either they tell us the world after the ending will not alter, or they have the ending alter the world. The latter part is very hard and I don’t think I’ve seen that been done well before.
Since when is there a rule that a game which is marketed as sandbox has to offer endless gameplay???
I fear you also misinterpreted the vision for KCD. Sandbox is only a rather small portion of the game…
To a degree Savage I agree with you, however even in games with definite endings there is often hours of miscellaneous things you can do for fun in between. Take Final Fantasy 7 for instance. I spent hours at the golden saucer and raising chocobos. As well as even more time maxing levels and trying to find out the best way to be the ultimate weapons. In order to increase replay value people created new game plus, so that you have some sort of reward or challenge after the initial time you spent into the game. Though for a game like this I think a sandbox type of approach would be beneficial. If your main character is a blacksmith let me be a blacksmith or give me more choice to pursue a different life. Let me marry the man (or woman if you swing that way ) I want (should they find it agreeable) Go hunting adopt a child and teach him how to fish and tell him stories about the war in songs and tales. Of course I’m not expecting it to be all that fantastic ^_^, but reach for the stars and while doing so you’ll see what you can achieve.
I agree I would love to be able to do some farming and soak in the environment!
