Everything wrong with KCD

So what i want to say, this is just the negative things i had to tell the devs so they can improve or change it. I still enjoy this game a lot but this stuff definetly needs fixing or improving. I am not a Journalist or professional critiques writer, i am just a casual gamer who wants this stuff changed so he can enjoy this game even more:

  • The horses: the controls just dont feel good on PC. i just cant ride straight, following the path easily, i always have to adjust because the horse isnt moving where i am looking at it is moving where i move it to by pressing A and D. How about including a free look system like in Arma 3 or PUBG so i can press ALT f.e and then the horse keeps riding and i can look around. Also i feel, that the horse are lil too dumb, they are not crossing over lil edges or rocks and they get stuck easily.

  • The saves (big one there!): i have to admit i am a quicksave spammer but i enjoy the idea of having limited chances to save. still i think you should put in the quicksave thing, because it isnt something about the player it is a game feature (like someone else in this forum pointed out already). i think it should be something people can turn on and off in the game settings. it is just to much of a risk sometimes and also it binds us to keep playing until we can save and sometimes i just dont have the time for it

  • Archery (!!!): no offense, but it is pretty shit. i mean the sword fighting is very complicated but you can get used to it and once you do, it is actually pretty cool. every fight is actually a fight i care about, because i can die easily and thats why it just doesnt get too boring. but the archery is so unreliable. it has a lot of randomness and it is 100% useless if it is not skilled. make it a little bit more arcady please! it doesnt have to bad Call of Duty in Middle Age but it needs improving.

  • The “i want to be a thief”-stuff: lockpicking is lil bit too difficult, even on easy and pocketpicking is just too random i.m.o. I know you can improve these skills too but i dont think people would want to, if they do bad experience at the beginning.

  • some technical stuff, i had (bugs, glitches): low FPS on good PC, the Dialogue Camera is missplaced sometimes, Lip Syncing (much more intense in other Languages than English), the close combat (fists) camera placement, big loading times between gameplay and dialogues etc

How about making this thread a big one? Everyone can include the stuff they dont like or they want to be improved, so we can collect all of it and the Warhorse Devs can easily see all of it?

Yours,

Mike

I agree with everything here.
I think the archery could be improved with simply adding a dot to the screen to indicate where the arrow will go. The arrow could still veer off course a little bit until you are skilled with it, but it is just too hard at the moment to even figure out basic aiming.
The saving system is my biggest gripe. It’s too easy to lose a lot of progress if you run into a game-breaking bug that forces you to restart the game, or even if you die 3/4 through a quest and have to redo everything.
The lockpicking needs to be much more forgiving. Having to turn both sticks on console evenly at the same rate is so frustrating, even on very easy boxes. I will be avoiding locks as much as possible with this system.

If you canter without steering it will follow the road. I don’t recommend to use this if you are not looking around though as the motion looking straight forward is a bit jerky.
It works very well for looking around you as you move about the map though.
If you are looking forward only, canter with a ‘steering’ key pressed to disable centreline following and to go ‘straight forward’.

Saves. This is a design decision. Mods will happen - in fact some changes already posted which reduce requirement. I won’t use them
but they are published. I prefer a bed save mostly, and carry a few Saviour for an optional “this is dumb but I wonder what happens if
” moment.

Archery is fine. It works best at a moderate distance. Don’t get too close and the aim is easier. (obviously don’t get too far either, because the target gets small and arrows drop over distance) It is skilled. About learning where the bow will come to on draw, with release the instant it is fully back, and where you need to offset for distance and bow power vs strength. Henry’s skill makes your job easier, so train.

Lockpicking and pickpocketing. Practice. On safe, or very easy targets. (Lullaby for instance makes sleepers more docile). Once you get good, you can make life much easier for yourself. But it takes some work to get there without causing all sorts of problems for your future self to deal with.

I agree with Lieste, if anything the Game gets too easy once you have your first 30 Hours spent. its somewhat ridiculus that you can onehit Enemys that are blocking your blows (defence animation and still falling dead) or, with a little bit of Training, of course, use a Longbow to kill 4 Opponents before you have to move an Inch
