I know that when we purchase items from the merchant (in-game) we are able to see the items on Henry in the inventory screen. Sometimes it may be difficult to see exactly what you are purchasing. That avatar of henry isn’t that big. Aesthetics are important when selecting armor or even weapons sometimes. I was wondering if there would be a way to “examine” or look closely at items prior to purchasing? I want to look at the sword or dagger up close prior to purchasing. I haven’t played skyrim in a while but I think you could do that in that game? Also… will objects that you could purchase exist in real time around the shop? Like in skyrim? It would be cool to just walk up to an item in the store, examine it in your hands, and then purchase it without going into the “shop menu screen” (just an idea. I know it would be a lot of work to implement). I feel that by having an option to examine objects closely, we could not only see how awesome the objects are, but have an opportunity to appreciate the beautiful work the artists are doing on the assets.
This is something I really like. Shop inventory shouldn’t be simply menu based. It should exist in the real world. You should be able to see it in the shop. After it’s purchased it should no longer be there.
Obviously, I agree, that you should be able to go up, look at it, manipulate it, etc., walk up to the merchant, and say , “hey, I’d like to purchase this lovely sword, how much?” or whatnot.
Picking up and manipulating an item shouldn’t equate to stealing either. Unless there’s a sign that says “look, don’t touch” haha
a zoom and rotate feature would work fine enough. and it removes the redundancy of examining objects close up, since you’ll be seeing exactly how it appears on your person.
Redundancy?? I’m talking about an option to examine an object… not a requirement to examine it.
the purpose of examining the object is to see it close up, zooming in will essentially solve the same issue. and having it on the player model adds the convenience of not having to buy it first, then trying it on, then taking it back if it doesn’t look right.
for specific items like swords or armor pieces, it might be simpler because they can just model the hand actions for those items, but if it’s just going to be floating in front of you, i think that’s not too different than having just a menu screen with the object modeled there
