Excited to start: any noob tips, advice, etc?

Greetings,

Steam is offering a huge sale on the KCD bundle pack, so I plan to get this interesting game. I’m a huge mediaeval and history nerd. That should help me appreciate this game a bit more. Any suggestions or advice on enjoying this game? Yes, I know that most of my skills are week in the beginning, and I expect a learning curve. That is similar to my current game: POE II. I k now KCD is POE and Skyrim but they all have a learning curve and many re-starts.

I look forward to your help.

Just get it and behave like you would behave in Henry’s boots.
Pay attention at combat lessons.
And don’t be a pussy

PS
Skyrim is a joke comparing to KCD. It even looks awful after 100 hrs in KCD.

Keep reminding yourself that you are a lowly peasant. Sometimes you are not going to an able to go in swinging your sword like Sir Arthur Dayne. He who fights and runs away n all that…

There are many ways to get around a mission look for the alternative ways if brute force not applicable.

Lockpicking will kick your ass for awhile. Will get easier eventually. Till then remember the above.

don’t rush to finish the game.

take time developing your skills. if you want to develop into the fighter role, there are lots of opportunities to fight/practice outside of specific missions. whilst fighting, mind your stamina!

unless you like spending lots of game and real time walking, save on getting a GOOD horse as early as you can

don’t spend too much time on looting and saving stuff. irreparable items aren’t a KCD mechanic (state) that you have to worry about. avoid being too much of a pack rat: you’re never going to be able to equip others with your inventory, and more importantly, you’re never going to be able to spend all the groschen you make from looting

There are some decent vids on youtube.

Learn how to riposte with Bernard ASAP, makes a 1v4 feel like a 1v2 when you get used to it

Pinking up flowers can give you nice bonuses to the start. For example hidden perk after picking up lots of nettles (and/or poisonous flowers) +2 to vitality. You will start piking them up one by one. But with every level you will pick more, after some while you are getting flowers from huge area. That also helps during one small quest (I think it is connected to a main one).

And then you can make your own saviour schnapps (after you can read… oh yeah, learn to read fast  )

Don’t pick combat skills until you’ve finished the sword training quest and got a hang of combat. The combat becomes extremely easy mid game. I really wish I had the ability to increase the game difficulty mid play or had started in hardcore.

Also, get to Uzhits and have the scribe teach you how to read. There’s some very interesting lore books and reading skill books skip in game time if you have to wait

And dont rush through the main story. Take your time.

As someone already mentioned, pick flowers/herbs in the beginning. You will get a hidden perk, and at level 10 you can gain strenght by picking a perk called “leg day” so every time you pick a herb/flower/mushroom, you will gain strenght.
