Expectations vs reality

Long time backer here since 2014, alpha tested the first game and was part of the beta.

I have seen some really strong opinions on both sides about the game and have to say I think that we have many original people but a lot of new bandwagon fans as well who had not been following the game.

I think much of the mainstream are not yet familiar with a very realistic medieval simulator or how some things translate from entertainment to a reality situation. This reminds me how some formula fans prefer call of duty as a arcade shooter to the realistic Arma which has more in common with real combat.

I recall mentioning KCD to friends who were into skyrim or witcher and shared little to no interest in KCD as I think this is the same scenario with tv and movies where shows like game of thrones will be more popular than knightfall.

For those who followed this game from the beginning, i feel most of us wanted something creative, different and the game was facing an uphill battle with those who were anti gamergate and I am glad the developers did not cave to the minority who tried to boycott mention of KCD

I think that the original expectations and what was released are similar to the kickstarter goals, and I have had a blast with the game. Everything from the quests to story, combat is so improved from beta. Some bugs still exist and i think polishing should be done but I am confident the publishers are receptive to feedback. I also think longterm with the modding community that the game will be a gem for years to come similar to how skyrim had created so many opportunities.

For the people who do not enjoy the game, there are a lot of AAA titles out there that repeat the same formula like farcry or assassins creed, the call of duty games and KCD breaks a lot of that repetition creating something challenging, I have put 32 hours in playing quests between the story and exploring all the details, so I have to say the game meets all my expectations and look forward to act 3
