How do you see the leveling of our hero ? I would like to see the same thing like gothic 3, wich is to speak to a master, a blacksmith for exemple, and he will help you to improve your skills if you have enough money. What do you think ?
I think Warhorse said that would be included. I donât know if there will be other systems, though. Personally, I like Skyrimâs experience system, where you can spend points to learn new skills but their experience improves by using them.
The problem with Elder Scrolls system style is that if you are out killing dragons and you level up with just using magic, you can magically get better at smithing as you gain a skill point you can use anywhere in the tree, not just in the skill you were leveling (in this case some kind of magic). From a realistic point of view, this is very unrealistic.
This is only true to a certain extent, at least in skyrim. Although I played the other Elder Scrolls games, it has been too long to remember exactly how they set their system up. It is true that you could be using magic and then learn how to smith ebony armor, but each ability is level locked within that skill. So you do still have to earn experience by actually using a skill to learn new abilities for that skill. For example, I canât learn how to smith dragon armor without smithing a ton of stuff first just like I canât learn a high level archery skill if I only ever fight with a sword.
I would prefer a system whereby you gained access to improved skills as opposed to clicking + buttonsâŠ
Simple parry>Parry+Feint>Parry+Counter, etcâŠ
Having zero experience in bladed combat, I stand to be corrected, but I believe that most progression is in this direction⊠as muscle memory, strength and knowledge improves, the range and effectiveness of your skill set increasesâŠ
That is not entirely true - the skills themselves, do improve with just using them (putting books, magic aside). You do not get any extra point on leveling - not for leveling skills. In Sykrim, you get a perk point which you can then spend on an improvement of a skill, an addon, if you wish - but that does not level your skill value. Before Skyrim, there were no manually selected perks.
The real issue if to find the proper experience you get for using the skill, so that you do not level too fast - but that was allways one of the first things to be moded.
I propose other system:
To training your skills you need to do a exactly things like:
To train your running strength when you need to overcome a set speed and a set time, it forces you to save all your backpack, just to train.
To train shooting bow, then shoot and depends on whether you hit an enemy or not, and where the success, increasing the ability, you can put a certain number of hit shots
To train ⊠whatever you like
But the weight of the armor only affect the speed⊠(you canât run with 30k in the body), but after 10 days with a lot of weight on, our character need to get used, really? A possibility is after 6 or 12 or 24 or ⊠hours with this weight on, the character get used 1%, or similar, with a limit, like 15% of the weight ( the numbers can change it a lot)
Is a good idea?
And we can put a reverse system, no? if you no training in a lot of days, your strength will be down
(sorry, iâm not a english speaker, I do what I can/know) (I never played elder scrolls, i donât know what system using, and if skyrim system is like my)
this sounds very reasonable, good reply!
Not a fan of the âYou have leveled upâ systems. I would like to see myself learning skills to use in game and I do mean actually learning for example you learn to hold a weapon, use a weapon and so on not that you have just got 5 skill points and now you have breached 10 points in swordplay you can classify for dual swords! But I will look forward to seeing how WH do this.
Your system seems very good !
Yeah really, i prefer your system type, but is not too reallistic⊠and I can say more, you donât will learn any attack, the attacks will be determined with your weapon⊠no? sorry
I would love to see some elements taken from Gothic 1-2-3 series, where you need a skill point and then to find a trainer who is asking for money/quest/item and a skill point and then explain to you how to get better
Please not like Gothic. Levelup and magical raise your skills if you have money. Thats nor realistic,
Raise skills by doing something and perhaps someone who will teach. But not like the Nuremberg Funnel spend money and getting immediately higher skill. No even if you have a teacher you should still spend some time to study.
From the beta it appears the predominant way of improving skills is by doing. The skill level increases automatically by practice (higher for success perhaps (where in the real world learning can often be faster by making obvious mistakes than by âsort ofâ working)). In addition to this are periodic âperksâ which add new techniques or benefits to skills you are already using.
Are there any other methods? Iâd hazard that to start using most skills a basic instruction must be obtained - whether from a teacher or (once you have learned the skill of reading) from books.
you canât level up in gothic with money (unlike skyrim/oblivion/morowind), you get me wrong I like the way leveling is now, fight and get better in certain skills or shoot a bow to get better in archery etc. I was talking more about the âmagical perkâ you receive when you level up a skill. I think its a good idea to unlock perks with trainers, for example level up combat by fighting and when you get that 1 skill point you donât just click to unlock a combo but talk to a master swordsman instead who can show you the move and tech you the skill and its not for free and depends on the trainer level, herbalist can teach you new recipe, blacksmith how to forge a new sword etc. itâs just making it more immersive imo. Like in the real life, where you can spend eternity to learn something that other more experienced person can explain to you really quick⊠but in rl we donât have level cap and we donât need skill points
Has anyone reached the level cap of any attribute or skill yet? I am asking because I think the maximum character level is 30. This results in a maximum of 14-15 perk points until level 30. Also, I would really like to know what is the level cap of the attributes and skills. I am tinkering on a stealthy/hunter build at the moment.
Level cap is 20. Everywhere.
