I got the idea of moving torches around realistic to illuminate dark corners or maybe set something on fire. If you want to give something more light you move the torch twoards it or move it in different angles. So you won’t just hold the torch right up in front of your face the entire time. I think the controls could be simular to the fighting controls with the different directions of attack. I recal seeing a small sidways movement of the torch in the caverns in the trailer video, but I’m not sure if this came from moving the view or if you can acctually can control the torch. I think it would add a lot to the lore of the game.
Thnks for the update MATTHEW1J!!!
Lindybeige is awesome, but I didn’t knew his point about torches yet. ^^
I think now we have to explore with candles and oil lamps now.
Yeah, if Matthew hadn’t posted those videos, I would’ve
Hehe I guess everybody who ever visited a medieval style market (or something similar, e.g. LARP) and tried to find the way back to the car in the middle of the night only equipped with a torch bought on the market can confirm this
Especially when it’s a bit out of town on an old castle and you have to pass some dark woods to get to the parking lots…
You really can’t see a lot and holding the torch constantly up behind you is straining your arm - can’t keep this up very long.
Really, almost always the better choice is to just adjust your eyes to the darkness. And doing that you can notice some amazing things, like how bright starlight can actually be on a cloudless night when no citylights are near…
And this one is goodto know too.
I found LindyBeige about a week ago and am slowly working my way through his videos, today I introduced the wife to his videos and she likes them too.
I’m just loving his A Point About… he has some good humour there and the serious ones are well thought and narrated.
Well, ok. We came to the point that torches and open flames are not the best way to find his way around dark places.
But what do you guys think of moving your arm, with a candle or something, around, so you can change the angle the light comes from?
