This wayfarer, appear too often and always reset is narrative, last time I saw him I killed him in duel in one Slash, I hope it doesn’t reappear. there is something wrong with this side story line.
Nothing new, they are all like that.
not true, not all like the riddler always gives me new riddle, but is true the trader I met and the beggard (murderer) reset they narrative too.
Frankly is a bit annoying and break immersion
So what would make it tolerable? Dif face? One and done? Dif dialogue (based on previous encounter)? Something else?
I would say different dialogue based on previous encounter , that seems the more appropriate or one and done depend of what happened in the first encounter ( if you killed him)
If killed, then new face and reset dialog tree?
How about dead is dead with no respawn. Realism eh?
With some of us, that’s going to leave a barren Bohemia
So? They want to be realistic in this game… not everyone can be Jesus
Agree…
At least make him say only " I challenge you" and is done… How many knights have the same story about their mothers?
Realism is in the eye of the beholder. The premise of this game is beyond realism. A destitute blacksmith apprentice is going to develop combat skills at particular medieval fighting style in time to fight bands of bandits and a ruthless if not infamous mercenary army. Historically situated? Yes. Realistic? No
I find it very annoying that after two attempts to convince this same individual that dueling would result in death, that the second time I talked to him he had the same name and reset dialogue, with a third time being the same. The fourth time I saw this man I just gave in and expected some sort of duel. He died in two hits.
It would have been more refreshing if your actions had more impact, i.e. convincing him to actually go fetch a maiden or go rethink his life and confront his mother. I expect him to return, same face, same name, same pointless encounter.
It’s one of the FEW annoyances of the game, minus the constant crashing and bugs. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the save-game mod-fix I would have thrown the game away in frustration. As it stands, it’s absolutely tolerable and wonderfully beautiful. I love the quests, they’re basic in some sort, but it gives you completion. Like I stated before, however, this particular encounter remains annoying because you’re basically dealing with a respawned unit and it makes it seem like it was just thrown it for no reason, when in fact there’s so much more potential for impact here.
To me, if WH can fix the graphics (pop in/high end console problems) issue, it has a rock solid foundation with KCD. There are a lot of pluses that could make gameplay match the scenery.
Add some more meat and variety to faint hearted knight(s). ++. Add dog companion. ++. Implement smithy as planned. +++. Finish off polearms. +++. Work out the kinks with mounted units (lancers & horse archers). ++++
realism is relative, not in the eye of the beholder. otherwise, people would be right to say call of duty is realistic. kcd is relatively realistic compared to other rpgs and most games out there, but there are limitations. the design of the random encounters is one such limitation. although i think the suggestions here can be implemented either in a mod or by warhorse themselves. new wayfaring knighs and mercenaries could help change this, different dialog and perma death if you kill them are also possible.
