I know this has been noted elsewhere, but please make it possible to replace your “main” horse with any you find, steal, etc. I found an excellent horse after killing a bandit camp, with significantly better stats, but there’s no way to make him “my” horse. I can ride him, but if I dismount and use the horse summons I still get Pebbles. Also, there’s no way to store my stuff on him. I was thrilled to find the new horse, only to realize I can’t actually use him.
You can replace it if you buy a new one at a horseshop. There are even very unique and special ones (like the horses from Witcher and Zelda) and some very powerful Horses to exchange with way better stats as Pebbles. If you buy a new one, your mount will be replaced and the stuff will be moved from old to new horse - including gear and storage. But you can not replace it with a stolen one. That’s against the law!
That’s lame as hell. Why in the world can I not steal a horse? Who can tell I stole it if no one saw? Logically speaking, that is.
Sorry, but since when is taking loot from bandits against the law? Everything else I get from the defeated bandits isn’t considered stolen, why would the horse be? The point is it’s a broken gameplay mechanic. I know there are horses I can buy, but if I capture a great horse, why provide stats for it if I can’t actually make it mine? And, if I steal a horse, sure, there might be a brand or something to indicate it isn’t mine, but if I want to ride around on a stolen horse and risk getting attacked by the guards, why shouldn’t I be able to do so?
Yeah you are absolutely right. At least the bandit ones. Normally they should be branded like other items. Horses, Cows, Housepigs, they all were branded by their owner I guess.
Olena is one of the loaners you can take in the escape from Skalitz. Pie is a runaway horse you can also use as a loaner. Both can be used without stealing, but both lack inventory access, same as with stolen horses. A horse is a horse, and from that perspective it doesn’t make sense that those non-purchased horses don’t have the same functionality as purchased ones. It seems WH wanted to push users to buy horses, and didn’t want to build up the crime mechanism. fwiw, about a week ago, I reported this to support email.
I’m kind of glad you can’t replace pebbles with a stolen horse because I found the bandits one west of Rattay and immediately killed it when we fell of s cliff together. So long buddy
