This is embarrassing, but I am still in the starter town and I don’t seem to be able to proceed. Fritz gave me three lockpicks so i could get a hammer out of a locked chest. I didn’t even come close to cracking the easy lock; i’m playing on console and found the mechanic almost impossible. So my three picks are broken and i don’t know how to get more. Any advice? Thanks in advance!
Start again, and if you can’t beat Kunesh or pick the lock, then tell Daddy how mean Kunesh was and he will give you some pocket groschen.
It didn’t even occur to me to attack Kunesh. Thanks much! Unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to save as of yet so I guess I’m going back to the autosave.
If you talk to Bianca, she will give you some save drinks for free.

You can earn some charcoal money by picking and selling flowers/herbs/nettle if you don’t want to bother with Kunesh.

Paint the house of the German and after that, your friends will help you to beat the shit out of Kunesh…

Also, lockpicking is very difficult on console to begin with. The devs are working on making it a bit more manageable on controllers.
Don’t pick locks and save your lockpicks for later. Just help Fritz en Matthias and after the mission is done you can ask them to help you get the key from Kunesh.
You can also knock out just about anyone, usually holding Groschen, if you’re careful…and if you KO them instead of killing them they’ll wake up and you can do it again for more sneak xp
This must be bugged, Xbox One 1.6 Hardcore mode. I went and talked to Kunesh, backed out of the convo, got “find another way” or whatever and when I go to unlock the chest it never says anything about Fritz having lock picks. I then go to the sword fights, which then leads me to the tavern to do the Deutsche mission. After that Matthew, Fritz and other dude (Mattias?) are in the field behind Kunesh’s house doing yard work with everyone else…my Skalitz prologue is kinda wonky.
