Found a horse idle in the middle of the road with no owner

Was riding back from Neuhof to Rattay and about halfway back I came across a fancy horse with a nice noble saddle and a hind quarter caparison. No rider was nearby and I couldn’t interact with the horse.

Is this an event or more likely a bug? It was very strange.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Between Neuhof an Rattay at a little crossroad. I didn´t try to interact because i thought it could be a trap and i was full with expensive stuff to sell in Rattay. I think it looked like Bernards horse. But he was at the training area.

I think it is a bug with horeses you have “owned” i quests.
The horse I stole in “RUN!” is still standing idle at the quarry. That is where I was on it during the last cut scene before the intro.
I can also still see the Grey horse from the Neuhof horse race quest, standing idly where I left it.

My horse from the first quest is flying in Talmberg  I wanted it to stand in the free spot next to the other horses but it bugged in the fence and then went up under the roof. No chance of getting it down.
And haven´t done the race quest yet.

It’s Bernard’s horse. He must have rode part way back back after Ginger in a Pickle quest before he was just automatically teleported to Rattay. If you would actually follow him back to Rattay he would probably ride the whole way back.

Horses are a bit strange in several ways…

the other day, I killed some bandits at their camp. Once they were dead, I went up to this horse they had there in the camp. I could “Mount/Ride” instead of “Steal” it, so I figured I got a free horse. The guards didn’t mind me riding it through town, so I figured it was all legit. However, this horse would not come when I whistled, I could never get it to gallop, and if I left it parked anywhere except at the door of Peshek’s mill, it would disappear when I wasn’t looking. So I rode it up to Neuhof to trade it in (as I had enough money by then) but found I could not sell this bandit horse, either. Strange. So I eventually left it there in the Neuhof pasture.

Then I bought a nice horse that does everything the bandit horse did not. But now I can’t find anybody who sells saddles. All the horse traders offer is more horses. This particular character has done exactly zero of the main quest since getting to Rattay. Does that have anything to do with it?

It seems only horses you own, such as Pebbles, or any you’ve bought will come when you call. The rest will do exactly what you’re describing, I guess because you don’t actually own them. Plus you can only own one at a time.

Well, that’s a bummer. Often, the horse is more valuable than the bandit riding it, so it would be nice to lead it to the trader to sell it. And if I killed the horse’s previous owner, the horse should be mine by right of conquest. I think that was a rule back in 1403

Anyway I found a vendor of horse tack. He’s a groom at the barn of the “Quest-giver” place S of Uzhitz proper, and NOT marked as a horsetrader or any other type of map icon. You have to hunt him down. He’s the guy with the green straw hat pulled low over his eyes.

It’s not Pie, the missing horse, is it? Can’t recall the quest name.

I found the same horse. I used it to carry my over encumbered self, my inventory was filled with the loot from the dead bandits, to Rattay to sell loot and tell Bernard I killed the bandits. Unfortunately it despawned shortly after when I wasn’t looking. I wish you could return the horse to the stables by Neuhof for a reward or something.

There is a horse in the first bandit camp near Rattay that I took after raiding the camp and then tried to sell it in Neuhof but the Trader just ignores it. I hope this gets patched in future, seems strange you can capture horses but then you can’t sell them or do any with them, it’s like the game just ignores them.
