Freezing / Hitching game every 10 seconds

This for me is a major bug or something. Screen freezes and suffers from hitching (micro pauses) when moving around. Some areas are worse than others. Killing the game for me unfortunately

my pc spec

win 7 64 bit
i5-4690k
16 gig ram
GTX1080
(game is installed on a ssd)
latest nvidia drivers 390.77

i can normally run on very high for most things at 1440p with fps between 40 - 60. (vsync on) I switch down to high for demanding stuff like shadows, physics etc.

Already tried

  • setting priority to HIGH in windows task manager for KCD
  • setting the appropriate heapsize for 16 gig ram in steam quick launch options
  • disabling just about everything else, antivirus, msi afterburner, etc

When i run game on medium graphics for everything it helps a little but does not solve. Sorry i have not tried setting everything too low…would be too depressing.

Also can a KCD developer explain why only 4 gig of gpu ram is being recognised (and i assume utilized?) of my GTX1080??

Many people have the same issue, it seems to be related to either OS or particular type/architecture of CPU. Nothing we can do right now, I tried everything…

And still no response on this from Warhorse so far…

yeah i saw posts about those who moved to win10 and it mostly eradicated the problem. Is tempting me to upgrade…

Where is their comunity manager? He can at least says that they realise the problem with constsn freezing and are hardly working to parry it…

Just to report freezing seems fixed :grinning::grinning::grinning::+1::+1::+1:

Only v small hitches I get sometimes but game is 100% smoother :+1::+1:

FPS is slightly lower but still smooth

Well done Warhorse :grinning::grinning:

Ihave had this twice now… both times it was win10 having done an update in the background.
Icould tell something was off as my colour profile was shifted.
A reboot (and windows finished installing the update) and upon startup everything was fine again.

For the record my machine has been off the net for weeks now, and this same update keeps reinstalling itself (unsuccesfully six times, succesfully three times)… even though it is installed, and recently reinstalled the updates page shows no reference to it beyond the original install weeks ago…

It is definately caused by Win10s autoupdate service for me (even though I haven’t been running it)

As Isaid both times it happened, switching the PCoff and on again was the solution (let windows finish installing the update) and the clue was the shifted brightness/colour profile.
