From the Ashes Expectations v reality

I actually really enjoyed the dlc and started just over half way into the main story so I didn’t have too much money and I was able to take my time and enjoy it.

However the expectations vs the reality of a lot of the dlc seemed to not match up for me. Most of them being as soon as you build a building there is a small cinematic and it always looks much nicer than what we actually get.

What I expected at the butchers, notice the 2-3 pigs

What I actually got was 1 dead pig…

What I expected at the bakery

What I actually got. Seen him put buns in the oven but never any flames

Other things that annoyed me was after you select livestock to be delivered to your town there isn’t any cows, sheep, pigs or even any chickens in your town even though there is heaps of room. First time chickens appeared was when i built the guardhouse.

Selecting the worst livestock left over or selecting the best livestock didn’t have any effect on the village.

Recruiting extra guards to the guard house has no positive effects, only negative. No increase of soldiers in guardhouse and no increase of thirsty soldiers at tavern.

Having a guardhouse should of given a extra option when judging to steal back your stolen grain.

True, I can confirm I did not see fire.
I had chickens at forge pretty early on.
And one pig in the village centre.

I almost didn’t order in livestock as I don’t have the butcher’s. But agreed, when I did, it certainly didn’t feel like I was getting my money’s worth as there are so few animals!

This is because the butcher did his job. Look at the desk. Enough meat for a big city…

That would make sense…if I actually had the butcher!

If you don’t have a butcher you don’t need animals…

Also building the beehive on the ‘outskirts’ places it right in the middle of the village. What village would have a heap of bees right in the middle!

None, it wouldn’t make too much sense. There are more flowers at the edge of the town, and more fields that they need bees.

Joke dlc that should be free.

Nice catch

Didn’t know Bohemians did a Kalua pig. Doesn’t look as appetizing as the Hawaiian version

Also noticed the dough sitting out overnight exposed

Smug Locator :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Henry said forest so he puts in the middle of the village… not even near the tavern garden where pollination might be of value

And then leaves wide open space and you can only pick one

Lean supply chain invented in Pribyslavitz circa 1403. Learn a lot from this game

The locator walk around outlining where buildings should go according to him, was basically you being shown where things would go. You got no say in the matter, and that I found to be most irritating! Whilst of course it would be wise to listen to his advice, I didn’t want to go on that walk around, and then have no say whatsoever in the locations.

The hives being a perfect example of that!

After about the 4th structure, I wanted to say ‘good grief Preston not again’ (if you don’t know that’s an allusion to PrestonGarvey of Fallout 4 who has you go on missions that eventually become very tedious and meme worthy)

The dlc has endless fetch quests ?

Is this a question or a statement that there are?

If the former, there are not endless fetch quests in my game. Once you’ve sourced grain, meat, charcoal and stone, that’s the end of the fetch quests. They’re not even quests to be honest, they’re just ‘Go to these NPC [or this singular NPC in the case of stone] > see who has the ‘best’ product for the ‘best’ price > choose the one you want’. That’s it.

Relocate the beehives to the village outskirts and we have that big plot for an additional building. I’d also love to see some farmland

Being able to hire the painter in Sasau to help paint the church would of been a cool touch as well as he’s always looking for money.

This is one of many good ideas! I would also like to point out that I have no way to pay momey to the church in Pribyslavitz to atone for my sins. I feel that is very weird and in many ways immersion breaking since all other churches have that possibility.

I wanted to do the same! I thought it would’ve been a perfect opportunity
